gtx 580 and dual monitors

guys quick question as this is annoying me now.
i have tried to set up two monitors today for the first time, i have a pic on both and my destop is extended across the two.
however if i run a game on my main monitor then try and and click the left one it boots me back to desktop on my main monitor too.
i want to be able to game in the main monitor then browse the web on the second one independantly. im using the latest nvidia control panel and drivers. both cards are connected to the dvi slots on my gtx 580 but for the life of me i cant figure it out. any ideas are great guys thanks a lot.

I could be wrong but i think you have to have your games in windowed mode?

Personally, I'd just do one or the other

Is it the same if your second monitor is a touch screen?
