I'm back baby!
Just stumbled across this site as I was looking for something else.

Does it scream pure scam to anyone else?

It looks professionally done compared to most scam sites (on my phone at least), but my spidey senses are tingling.

How is it a scam? It'll just forward your details to local garages who'll give you a quote for an oil change.

I found it from google and just about every other word is the name of the town I was searching. So it's likely to be a black circles familiar but for garage services. Hmmm.

The 'recent enquiries' bit is almost certainly complete crap, given so many have strange x characters in them, as if part of a generator was missing words.

That and the way the enquiry form is set out seems odd... 'service required' Oil change, filter... then a list of manufacturers

If it's not a scam, it's a bunch of incompetent muppets, either way i'd be avoiding.

When should the oil in my car be changed?
A Most car manufacturers recommend replacing your oil every 6,000 miles and we would like to ensure you that you are receiving the highest quality oil to help keep your car engine in peak condition.
looool

Why does every single comment contain random usages of the letter "x"?

Suspect the Xs are something weird with the way its relaying line breaks from the comments box. No idea about the rest of the site.

This enquiry should read "Oil and Filter change needed for a Volvo 850 petrol 2.0L Manual 20v 1993. A quote would be great."

Hi everyone, this is the media manager for Salesfeed websites, thank you for bringing this to our attention.

The system will shorten enquiries automatically.

I have raised this issue with the IT department and it appears to be some over zealous filtering of enquires due to previous spam issues.

All Salesfeed websites have terms and conditions alongside relevant contact information for our marketing company.

Thank you for clarifying our service.

Also in regards to the 6000 miles comment this has been amended although on a side note http://www.national.co.uk/oil-vehicle-search.aspx mentions 6000 mile recommendation lol ...

Thank you for the feedback this has been amended, the information here is mostly for the garages as some like to pass on the work to a dedicated manufacturer specialist. Also companies will use this data for their own internal reporting purposes which can be used for marketing, etc.

This page has obviously been listed when you search for them in Google. They appear hot on their SEO, hence why the local town name is plastered all over the place on the site.

They appear to have spilt a bit on their site photo. Should have used a funnel.

EDIT: We are 4th on a google search.

FWIW, companies who plaster the town name all over their site when they arent based there are one of the most annoying things on the internet

As mentioned we are a marketing company advertising services on behalf of national or regional businesses.

We put you in touch with a garage or mobile mechanics near your town or covering your region. This could be a big franchise, a mobile mechanic or just a group of local tradesman.

If you are looking for a quick quote on garage covering your area for oil changes then www.thirstycar.co.uk can help. If you are looking for more specific information regarding a local business then other services are maybe more suitable.

@ iaind Thank you for clarifying your earlier statement.

I understand how it works and the point of the business - I'm not saying its a scam or anything, but when I'm looking for a local business and I end up on one of these sites (which are of no interest to me whatsoever, I'm more than capable of contacting garages myself) because it's been spammed with "Exeter" 400 times in the same sentence, it's rather annoying

OK? I think most people here would know how to do a whois, other than posting the address, what did that prove?
