Currently playing thriugh amnesia and i was wondering if there are any similar/scarier games out there? Maybe in the same vein with a lot if interaction and little to defend urself? I this helped the horror vibe greatly!

Thanks :) looking forward to machine for pigs

The dev's previous series called Penumbria is probably the closest you'll get to Amnesia including the Lovecraftian themes :p very good games.

EDIT: Collector's Pack currently on sale on Steam too, you're in luck!

The slenderman is obviously quite well known, no way to defend yourself and super immersive, although it's not really a full sized game. Proper makes you poop yourself though (if you have sound up) :P

Ooo may have to have a look at these then! Thanks for the tip!

Yea slender man gets me everytime :3 but yea its not quite as full a game as id like! Still great though thanks!

+1 for Penumbra.

Even though the second game, Black Plague, is the best, you must play Penumbra: Overture first or you won't have a clue/care what's going on. Overture is a decent game but the combat is frustrating at times and was improved in the second game. Just work through it. No matter what people say, in my experience you must play the first game first. It'll all make a lot more sense.

Condemned: Criminal Origins is also excellent.

Just buy now... Buy buy buy!

The third game, Penumbra: Requiem is still horror-themed but all about solving the puzzles around you, no monsters, you're totally alone. I wasn't sure about it at first but I warmed to it very quickly.

These games lay the atmosphere on thickly. They have no HUD and no cutscenes which really helps with the immersion. There is a very strong sense of total isolation and abandonment in a dangerous enviroment. The fact that they're set in Greenland really helps the cold, dark feel.

If I could erase my memory and replay the series again I would.

+1 for Penumbra, but the final games is some sort of platformer thing, witch no real scares

Edit:
There is also cryostasis. It has guns but is also supposed to be like penumbra. I got the full series of penumbra for £3 so it can be really cheap

Played Cryostasis hoping for more of the same... It plays very clunkily, and the graphics looked too shiny and swish. Didn't like it at all.
