Would it be worth it to go from an i5 2320 3.0 ghz sandybridge (although I can select a 35 multiplier in bios and cpu z is telling me it's at 3.5ghz now) to an i5 3570k ivy? I already have a cooler master hyper 212 cooler I could use. After selling the 2320 the upgrade would cost around £80.

If you've got a P67/Z68/Z77 board then yeah it'd be worth it as you can overclock the i5 3570k a decent amount.
Assuming of course it's not costing you much money, and assuming you're going to upgrade your 4890 soon.

If it's going to cost a bit of money, get a new GPU first.

I'm planning to order a 7950 soon, and yes I have a z77 board.

I went from an i3 2320 to an i7 3770K, the step up is significant. Also using the same cooler! It's absolutely capable.

I imagine a 3570K would also be worthwhile. Definitely.

Depends on the use.

I have a 2500 system that is stock and a 2500K in my sig, in games you will notice next to no difference.

Other cpu bound tasks then yes very much worth it as you will be 1ghz+ up on each core when your clocked.
