Ivy vs Zambezi vs Vishera (i5 3570K vs FX-8120 vs FX-8320)

Shocking game engine...

The CPU is very much the bottleneck in this game.

Maybe for the 7870 but not for my single 6950

I am doing some lost planet 2 tests using the 680's and it appears i am CPU not GPU limited in SLI.
Going to test some more but i didn't expect that.

I am GPU limited on single 6950, What frame rates are you getting on SLI with PD

Haven't run any SLI tests on the PD yet.
The cards are still in my Gaming PC with a 3770K at 4.7GHz !!!!
Will do some more testing on that and then move over to the PD.

Thing is though the PD is now in a case which isn't deep enough for the 680's so it will be fiddly.

Could you not do some tests around the latest MMOs, they generally require more CPU than GPU so this GPU limiting thing wouldnt be such an issue? Plus, it would be really nice to see which processors are best for MMO gaming :P

Im no expert though, just a suggestion.

Cheers, K

Going of the charts at anandtech it would appear the intels are better for mmo's i think even the most hardened amd supporter would allready tell you that though as thats really the only thing they would aggree that intel is clearly better.

Yeah, generally i would agree.
But it also depends on the game, EVE, MechWarrior Online, Ghost Recon Online, and NFS Play for free are MMO's that i do play, all of those games run very well and use my GPU fully.

It seems its the ones made with really cruddy game engines that faulter

Humbug just out of interest and not trying to start a massive debate about which is better as everyone will have different opinions on which is better for there needs, i've seen you do a lot of benchmarks in the past i just wondered if you ever use the 7870 with your 2500k to compare the difference between the two cpu's

Benchmark comparisons? not for public review and not on this GPU, no.
Have i used Intel rigs with 7870's? yes, and more powerful GPU's

I built it along side this one, it has a GTX 560ti in it, i have used Intel for many years, i know from first hand experience if and where advantages an Intel rig has over AMD.
The Family use the Intel rig, this is my toy and my Home work station.

The reason i prefer it would be conjecture if i tried to explain them to you.

Other than that, if i played a lot of WoW, Arma2 and those sort of things that benefit from fast single threading i would be better off with the 2500K.

But i don't, What i do with it has the performance more or less the same.
And as a toy, i just like it more.

That's it :)

New year, new tests!

Again 2 more tests from AIDA from “CPU” department!

I wish you all the best in 2013,

So two more test today... and two more tomorrow then we are going to see new chapter ;).

Any idea why is this so ? I will test this again on friday to check again, but do not know really...

Greetings,

why franc

same here, I have replicated his tests with Aida 64 version 2.7 and do not get close, Aida themselves say that comparing different versions is not possible.

Therefore I am not convinced that it is anything but rubbish in rubbish out.
Proper comparative testing with application or game benchmarks is more suitable.
