Well you're either;

A) paying for aesthetic items which is just sad

B) paying for more powerful gear which is just p2w

Neither one is good mate.

Yh afaik the lowest its been on steam has been £14.99. I need to find some time to get some mods loaded up on my copy of it, as theres some good ones going around.

For that £5 you could get another actual game. Why does it matter if your helmet has an extra spike on it or if your armor has trim? It's opinion, but I absolutely despise aesthetic 'upgrades' in games, paying money just to make your armor blue... eurgh. RuneScape is the worst for it and it's the biggest reason I never go back to it for long.

Most people who would spend money on Dota 2 probably don't play anything else, its a nice way to support the game. Its no different from paying a sub for MMO in my opinion.

Well it'd be good if they released new, balanced classes though that you pay for, the f2p MMO's that do that have my respect, none of this rubbish that forces me to have disk space taken up with locked aesthetic content for Joe Bloggs and his super spiky super duper helm.
 
The game will be completely free when it releases with all heroes available. The cosmetics help fund development, server costs and the like. What's not to like about that? I'm certainly not worried about disk space.
