7850 owners how does it run far cry 3?

Just ran it with firefox/apps running ....

P3393 with ATI Radeon HD 5870(1x) and AMD Phenom II X2 550

Graphics Score
4319

Physics Score
2076

Combined Score
2052

according to Result details the score is what it should be when comparing to others with same spec.

No its my combined score, ill re run it when I get the chance,on my z68/2600k I score 7500 points

Your low physics score point to a struggling CPU

I was thinking more along the lines of an i3 2120/3220, its hard to find benchmarks at 1080p ultra and no aa both for cpu/gpu, but those i3,s are destroying phenoms in benchmarks, damn means almost complete upgrade.

No destroying is not accurate and in facrcry 3 and hitman a phenom II quad at 3.8-4.0 ghz will provide the same performance as an i3.

Your current situation is that you only have 2 cores, so If you're going to upgrade you need to look at either nabbing up a cheap 955be and clocking it or try unlocking your chip and clocking it, Or going for a i5 sb quad or i5 ivy to see any benefit over a clocked 955.

need proof ok here you are

I would sort out your processor before graphics and a cheap upgrade if your board can take one would be a phenom 965 as they go for as little as 65 quid brand new and can handle most games if you over clock them.

If you are buying a whole new rig for games then ivy bridge i5 by far the best option.

We run Far Cry 3 on our HTPC everything maxed out @ Ultra with DX11 @ 1080P, get around 45 - 50 fps average. Runs fine..

The specs are..

HD 7850 2GB @ 1050 / 1250
Intel Xeon 1230 V2
16GB DDR3 @ 2133mhz

Hope that helps.

How well does your 5870 overclock and you have to take into account when those benchmarks were done the 7850 was on older drivers then, the latest drivers offer upto around %15 more performance from then plus whatever you can overclock it too i would say there is enough difference to justify an upgrade.

Less power consumption too, and it's cooler.

I have the MSI twin frzr 3 2GB OC model paired with a stock i5 750, 8GB RAM @ 1080P

Play with everything set to max apart from shadows (set to high) and post FX is disabled (get much better performance and the game looks better), GPU buffer set to 2, dx 11, MSAA set to 2 or 4 (can't remember which :p :o), alpha coverage set to enhanced and the game is very smooth, still have yet to see any lag/stutter (apart from when the game first loads), don't constantly monitor FPS, but it always seem to be around the 55-65 FPS mark and very rarely below the 40FPS mark when I do check. I also use sweet fx injector, which knocks the FPS down by about 5-10 depending on the area.

The card is extremely quiet and runs exceptionally cool in my stock bitfenix raider case (which is usually pretty toasty), 32 degrees idle temp and never passes the 60 degree mark at load (and this is with 2 monitors connected, which bumps the temp up by a bit)

The DX 11 tessellation performance is much better than the 5870.

I'm running it on ultra fine with a stock HIS 7850 and 2500K on DX11 with everything maxed out and seem to be averaging 40-45fps

Edit:
Just tried disabling post FX as mentioned above and it has increased my FPS by around 10, I didn't know about that, thanks :)
