Why is New Years Eve always a rubbish night?

I had a great night out at Chicago Rock. Once more I only spent 8 pounds including 6 for entry.

Its a forced night out, dont know about you but i have to be in the right mood to want to go out, so if it falls on a night when you cant be bothered, you wont enjoy it.

I had an awesome new years eve

Went out at about 7.30 which i thought was a bit early ... although i started drinking at about 6 ... there were about 20 of us and at that early we pretty much owned the entire bar, no real queues... It got busier obviously as the evening progressed but we were still the largest group there hogging the dance floor...

And then at about 1.30 we left, went on the dodgems in the town centre (always totally awesome, even better when very drunk)

Then when we finally made it home (which is only a 10minute walk away but took about 40) we drank more and generally just had a laugh..

Went to bed about 5.30 after one of the best evenings of the year

ps. spent about £40 on drinks, which is a lot for me so it was an expensive night, but well worth it

If I've learned one thing from new years

House Parties > 30 quid enterance nights in pubs/clubs.

It maybe 5 years on but this still rings 100% true.

I'll also add that there's the hype factor. Everyone gets all wound up for it and then it's just like any other night you might get drunk with friends. Nothing special or magical about it.

Ive always found New Years Eve to be the one night of the year you never ever seem to have real fun - its always a let down - everyone I know feels the same... you made to feel this is the party night to top all partys... but sadly not.

I don't really mind, I always spend it with people who I don't really see that often or friends and just have a laugh and a catchup.

Decent pubs down here, most were like £2-4 entry with a good vibe. Best place was free entry!

Beer = £3 (Newcie Brown)
Entertainment = Awesome Rockabilly band
Rock disco until 3am
Aggravation = none because we're all rockers, older and know how to handle alcohol
