I spent £6500 on my first car, 1.8L, it was 18 months ago and I still have it :p

My sister bought a 1.4L Polo as her first car (1.2L and you are a MAN! :D) and she never written it off, sold it after 2 years.

But £8,000 is crazy money for a first car when you are 18 though ! But £680 insurance is also cheap for 18 years old too in this day and age.

My first car was a mk1 mx5, it survived despite my enthusiasm for it not to. Just be careful when you need to and sensible and you will be fine.
 
meh it's crazy to some, i've gotten a big pay rise in my job which is comfortable, paid off the car completely so no debt.

Why? If he has insurance it's all good. Even better if he has GAP insurance. He's got 18 months warranty with the vehicle so in the unlikely event it breaks down he has no worries.

I bought a car for around this amount when I was 18, I don't see what's crazy when it fits his requirements. Besides, the car looks clean throughout and has already taken most of the depreciation - what are these new, £10,000.00? Sounds like the buyer has bought it outright so benefits from not paying interest (if this is the case).

A sound purchase.

Not going to debate whether it is a good purchase or not but it has not taken most of its depreciation...., if it was £10,000 new, losing £2,000 is not MOST, losing £8,000 is "most".

How can you tell how clean my car is from just the outer edges of one area showing :eek:

It's pretty clean I guess, like new :p
 
Picked up my belated Christmas present to myself this morning :)

Type S GT 2.2 i-CDTi. Absolutely immaculate inside and out, love the red and black colour scheme too. Shame my GS3's camera seems to have no concept of exposure levels...
