Mods please excuse me if this is not the right forum but it didn't seem to fit in the normal audio one.

I'm looking for opinions on JL Audio 6.5" C3-650 speakers which are currently reduced to £160. This seems quite a reduction compared to most places and are they worth the extra over something like Alpine SPR 60's?

Thanks.

For £160 they are an amazing buy -- I have them in my car and paid >£300 back in 2008. If you put them in a proper install with a good amount of sound deadening and a decent sub / amp / headunit they really sing. I love them :)

Thanks. I thought they seemed a good deal. I'd bought them earlier this evening as the sale allegedly finishes on 31st so was hoping for some validation while I still had time to cancel the order if necessary.

The sound in the Corrado is usually quite poor because it's from an era when speakers were an afterthought. The previous owner installed a large sub in the boot to try to compensate but it's heavy, takes up the whole boot and simply gives thumping bass rather than good SQ. So I have it turned right down.

But I've managed to get hold of some original period aftermarket Audioscape doorpods (won't mean much to most people but quite sought after in the Corrado world) which allows larger speakers. So the intention is to remove the sub and use the current amp to drive these speakers instead. I will take a look at sound proofing, thanks.

I'll probably have to keep to the current head unit but it's quite good anyway - Pioneer P88RS - very, very basic features and no MP3/iPod input, but good SQ.

Yep 2 channel. I could upgrade it but that's more expense and leaves the sub in the boot.

I'd still recommend you run a sub.. doesn't have to be a massive great thing but a nice little 10" would fill in the bottom end nicely :)

I believe that's what I have, they were ones where you could run as comps or seperate the tweeter and mid. Huge upgrade over terrible OEM but cannot compare to any other speaker.

Yep they are convertibles which is quite handy.
