Hi All,

Found an old Nokia N95 in a box the other week and my wife is fed up of her Blackberry so trying to swap to this.

I've got all the software (Nokia Suite and NSS) downloaded to put an unbranded firmware on the phone at the latest version, but I don't have a T-Mobile sim card to allow the new firmware to install (which, I think would make it network unlocked?)

I've tried to get an unlock code from one online source, but they have advised me that they can't get an unlock code, and my best option is a man in a shop to do it, or to ask T-Mobile for the code.

I don't have a contract with T-Mobile anymore, and my wife is currently with Orange so no joy there.

Am I totally unable to do this myself? Can anyon recommend somewhere online for an unlock code?

I've done some further research, and it seems to be that this is caused by my phone being a BB5 phone. I therefore seem to have 2 options:

1 - Call T-Mobile and pay £15 for a code
2 - Go to a market stall and get them to do it for me

Unless... there is a 3rd option, which is knowing what software I need to do this myself....?

so sorry, I haven't been clear.

Are you saying by doing this (Changing the product code in NSS and then updating to an unbranded software through Nokia Suite) I will remove the T-Mobile sim lock on the phone also?

No it won't. I had an N95 oh so many years ago and I had to separately get it unlocked. I did it via the carrier, after looking elsewhere, for a tenner or something.

When I used my sisters N95 (locked to 3) I got a " Turbo Sim" (ebay that) and put it between the phone and my simcard.

Worked a treat :)

Yes, I did this with two Nokia N95 phones.
