WTFBBQ is with these rising prices..?

MSI 660 was £160 in early December...

I wish I had bought it then...

There's no way I can buy an nvidia card to upgrade my GTX460 now without feeling ripped off : \

Got £200 xmas money sitting on my desk for a gfx card upgrade, but can't find a cost-efficient nvidia option currently. :(

When do you guys think prices will start coming down again?

When do you think the next series will be announced..?

The 660 is a good card. I paid £160 for my MSI TF3 carda few weeks back. I wouldnt have paid £190 for it and id look at the alternatives.

If youve got £200, then if it was me id either get a 7870 for the £200 or put £30 - £40 to it for the 7950. Dont forget they come with free games that you could easily get a good £20 or so back on :)

He wants an Nvidia card not AMD. *sigh* You can't get 1 post about graphics cards now without someone bringing up a 7950

OP simply made an observation that there are no cost efficient options in the Nvidia range that they could upgrade to. They did not say that their next upgrade had to be Nvidia. Therefore, the 7950 is the best upgrade option if Nvidia is not required.

Actually the OP didn't say that.

I know it does my head in on this forum. Everybody always say 7950. Not everyone wants AMD.

There's a good reason for that.

See above - the OP doesn't say AMD is off the table.

Hey now, it's not our fault if the 7950 is currently the best card for the price.

No idea if prices will come down, but it seems quite unlikely that it will.

As for the next generation of cards, no idea. Going to haver a guess of it being at the later half of the year though.

+1

The issue is that nVidia don't often good value for money very often. Take issue with that, rather than people suggesting the best value option for the high end.

Why would you have an emotional response to that anyway?

More chance of getting value for money buying Apple products than Nvidia at the moment

Don't be silly..Crysis on an Ipad. :)

Secondhand Market is where Nvivida Rules at the moment..

If you're after a new card, the price the 7950 is at is unbeatable, nearly on par with the GTX 670 but £60-£80 less..

I would prefer the open air coolers instead of the exhaust fan ones, I'm not really planning on going SLI, and I'm pretty sure the open ones provide much lower temps as long as your case ventilation is good.

The MSI 660 for £160 was perfect for me, but price went up before I bought it and now a) it no longer shows up on overclockers uk website + b) it went up to £180 over 2 days = QQ

£215 for the Ti is pretty good though I guess.

But isn't the 660Ti faster and cheaper than a 7950?

Of course not.

Taking into account overclocking capabilities the 7950 is on par with an overclocked 670, for £60-£100 less.

Also I don't understand why other people are getting annoyed whenever someone mentions the 7950, why would we not recommend the best ~£250 card?

We as customers should be giving our money to whoever can offer us the best performance for our money, it's nonsense to be loyalist fanboys. It gets no one no where.

If you want a car, say a mazda rx8 which was for example £2000 and then rose to £2200 and wanted to know when the price for one will come down again, why are you going to want to listen to someone tell you to get another car for the same price

Because if there was a better car for the same money, would it not make sense to recommend it? Nobody can really say when a card is going to come down in price, all we can say is what offers the best performance for the price, which in this instance is the 7950, without doubt.
