Death Star or Mount Doom, it depends on the day.
My god, has anyone seen this? I only viewed it last night when the erm... Gary Barlow concert was on ITV. Sad to say I seen it live too god damn missus.

Anyway, watch this peace of **** and tell me what you think? It makes no sense.

I do not understand Jewelers and Perfume adverts anymore. In no way do they make me want to buy the product, they just leave me thinking what the **** did i just watch?

And im never getting them potentially vital few minutes back.

Edit: The one i hate the most i think is the Dior one, with the misc sailor that just leaves. And thats the whole advert over, makes 0 sense.

Hehe, this thread is exactly the kind of thing the advert was trying to force. I called it as soon as it was halfway through.

It makes no sense so loads of people talk about it, and subsequently view it on youtube for free advertising.

Hook line and sinker they got you, you've posted about it and linked a YouTube video to it, they win you buy Cartier

I see how they get advertising through links to YouTube and whatever, but all of this wouldn't make me want to purchase some jewelry from there.

But its stupid, boring and makes no sense!!! Anyone chimp could have made that advert, I bet someone got paid millions to through a strand of CGI clips together.

I know, a badger walks into a cuban coffee plant to find its a cocaine facility. There you go, thats the new ASDA advert. Please pay thousands into my account.

I don't see what the confusion is, it is associating its brand with the timeless unique majesty and beauty of various historical references and classical literature. I thought it was a quality and well thought out piece of film making that reflects the quality and value of the Cartier Brand.

You are probably not the type of customer to purchase from them though.

Even more to the point though, advertising isn't always about the direct sale, its about getting the brand association out there. It reinforces that Cartier is a very opulent brand with a real history behind it as a jeweller.

It's no different to any other form of advertisement where there are products which largely do the same thing but have different price brackets.

Don't get me wrong, im definitely not the kind of person to buy this jewelry. But the advert barely hints at the fact that they sell jewelry, apart from the odd ring and bracelet, not much is shown it was only at the end that i realised what it was.

I understand it may be the advancement of the brand, but in my potentially incorrect opinion, this advert establishes them as some crazy CGI company, far from a jewelers, if they were to show more of what they were selling, rather than dragons it would make a lot more sense. If i was to think i wanted to buy some jewelry i would think of a place where i saw jewels, not dragons and leopards.

 It began with a bejewelled leopard, had a raft of images both real and imagined showing jewels and images made from jewels....I think it is difficult not to get the inference that it is a jeweller.

Exactly, everyone knows that Cartier is jewellery. The advert is not one to inform you that their products or brand exists, it is more showing the exclusivity and heritage behind the brand.

Advert is for wimmins to watch and inwardly digest, not for blokes with a can of lager in one hand and a packet of crisps in the other.

I quite enjoyed it. I preferred watching one long well thought out and filmed advert to the multiple 30s long brain numbing tripe that usually goes on in ad breaks. The gf was in heaven it had shiny things, a cuddly animal and an elephant which are basically her favourite things in the whole world. Bless her.

Also the panther is a key image for the brand as are the intertwined rings they showed etc. It is more about brand reinforcement and reminding women they want Cartier stuff than trying to persuade a load of forum dwellers that a couple of thousand quid would be better spent on a bangle rather than on a trisli set up.

I didn't realise the Panther (not Leopard, my mistake) was a brand identifier for Cartier.

I see it now I have watched a couple of other Cartier adverts.

Edit: My wife tells me that the Elephant and Dragon are associated with Cartier Collections also. So there you go, it all fits into place. (Now my wife is looking at Cartier Collections, which is not so good...)
