anyone ever had a ghostly experience ?

About 3-4 nights ago I woke up feeling my duvet being pulled off me in a folding motion and then put back as it was which freaked me out but I was so tired I just went straight back to sleep.
When I woke up in the morning I was left wondering whether it happened or if it was just dream I had woke up from.
btw it was the side off the bed up against the wall so its not like something could have been trying to get into bed with me which makes it even more bizarre...
I haven't been able to sleep at night since I'm terrified of going to sleep whilst its dark so I've been waiting until its started to get a bit light outside

Yesterday Whilst waking towards the kitchen door after making a cup of coffee and looking through the living room into the hallway I thought I saw a small girl standing sideways looking down the hall towards something out of my sight but after a few seconds I'm not sure what I saw if anything.

I had heard stories about the previous occupant of the house claiming to have saw the ghost of a small girl but never having any physical experiences as far as I'm aware.
My wife who I'm seperating from sleeps in a different room and claims to have saw a small girl standing at the base of her bed a few times (although she has sleep mental health problem anyway where she will see things that arent there or go about an imaginary task not realising shes awake so I dont know wether she did see anything ghostly or not)

I'm so freaked out tears started to run down my face after I started typing. :(

Anyone else had any odd experiences that may or may not have been a dream that left them freaked out?

There was a period in my life when i had this all the time. It was sleep depravation and paralysis.
Sometimes i would wake up and feel like something was touching my neck and unable to move. Was terrifying as you can move or talk and it lasts about 10 mins

The fact that you're seeing and feeling these things after being told about previous occupants and having sleep problems to begin with indicates it's more in your mind than paranormal.

I would suggest looking at it logically, you're doubting if what you saw was even real so you're part way there already.

If ghosts were real then we'd know about it, not hope to see a glimpse on Ghost Hunters TV shows but instead see random gasps as people on the show feel "a cold area of the room".

I've been living here for 10 years and never experienced anything before, I wasnt having sleep issues until this either
Your wife is trolling you
lol I move out in a few weeks anyway to be forever alone man :D

A few things, mostly objects making noises. The kettle being clicked "on" was a favourite for a while, sometimes it would go bananas. Othertimes it would make sound of boiling water, go through and it would be off (unlit) and stone cold.

Also got punched in the face lying in bed, right cheek just below the eye and it was enough to lift my head up to my shoulder waking me in the process. She was sleeping in front of me, my lying on my side, no sound nothing. Just a warm feeling on my cheek. This was a few weeks after her complaining of the same thing happening when I was away for a weekend for work which scared her enough to phone me in the dead of night in a panic.

Obviously believing her now, I threw myself out of bed and proceeded to stomp about the house like an ape screaming blue murder at nothing, threatening it if I ever came to pass it, and after that nothing more has happened that was noteworthy. That was a few years ago now.

All very rationale I hope you can see. True story though bro'..

This doesn't change the fact that it's a psychological thing than a real paranormal thing though.

******* malevolent spirits. You still in the same house?

Various things happened in my mum's house. I could hear breathing at night in the same room often even though I was alone, the sound of something walking up and down the corridor downstairs in the night, and one evening there was an exceptionally loud crash from the downstairs living room. I ran down but everything was normal. This all happened in the same period.

Next door had similar problems. Their baby died in the downstairs room and it left a horrible feeling in the house afterwards. You could feel it whenever you walked in. The family then moved out and then each family who moved in would move out after two years or so. One person said they got woke up in the night by the sounds of a child crying, though we'd never told them what happened. It was just unbearable in there.

Yes still here, we both witnessed the kettle together it often got worse trying to watch a film. It would never do it in front of us. She got more unsettling feelings than me, I was just more ****ed off as I thought it might have just been a really bad dream for her but being a light sleeper I knew my body wasn't making this up I was wide awake on the upwards part of my head getting bounced.

I was more angry that some ghostbusters reject thought he could hook my mrs in her sleep in my house when I'm away, and is now trying it with me. I got all lippy on his ass that night, and hell I even believed myself when I said I'd find him/it and kill it somehow.

I am really not the type to buy into this sort of stuff either, hence my sceptacism with her... but I really did get hooked through the matress lying in bed one evening in 2007.

Anyone remember the old ghostly goings-on thread in GD, going back about a year or two? I remember someone posting about living in a big old house for uni with a few other students, and how the very top room made people really depressed, and then the poster himself spent a couple of weeks in there before he had enough. That post really put the creeps up me.

Not even once. Nothing that couldnt be explained, nothing thats creeped or freaked me out.

Which really sucks because im right up for it. My sister reckons she talked to our dad once. Shes convinced its tue, and shes usually proper level headed. If it IS true, im kind of furious he hasnt come talk to me, cause i quite fancy a chat with him after all this time.

Does happen, yes, as I posted. Sometimes a spirit can be - or leave - an emotional residue.

A good friend of mine lived in Belsize Park in the second year of university. When I first visited the house I got a rush of a terribly negative feeling when I entered it, especially on the first floor, and I got it every time I went there.

Wymering Manor is nearby and a friend and I spent a day exploring the whole house not long ago before structural renovations start. It's said to be one of the most haunted houses in the UK but we saw or heard nothing. The Priest hideouts from the olden days where priests were at risk still exist and the little rooms are quite creepy but nothing ghostly.

We saw nothing, heard nothing and captured nothing on camera.
There's one guy who stays over night in the downstairs diner room watching CCTV and TV and he's not seen anything.

Not really a let down because this is what we expected :p

Your mind will show you what you want to see, feel or hear with these things. The more suggestible you are the easier you'll think it's actually happening.

People underestimate the power of the brain!

I woke up in the middle of the night last night to the feeling of my cat walking along the side of my bed (it often climbs in my bedroom window on a night to get in) then heard it jump onto the floor and cry/scratch at the door to be let out.

I then remembered I hadn't heard my blinds move and my window was closed, turned the light on and there was nothing there.

Probably best start going to bed earlier.

Dear God, I wish I'd known this Roberto as I'd have loved to include a quote from you as Wymering Manor is one of the chapters in my most recent books. :)

Very interesting place.

I've been reading your book the last couple of days, very interesting stuff!

Many thanks, sir. <3

I worked in a "haunted" shop a few years ago. Some pretty weird stuff happened for sure. The best one was when I was talking to another member of staff (we were both supervisors) upstairs and we both turned to greet the woman we had both seen coming up the stairs - only nobody actually appeared at the top. We both looked at each other in shock and then went downstairs. The staff down there said nobody had even come into the store for at least 10 mins. Now, the stairs had a glass wall and we both saw "her" more out the corner of our eye than a straight view.....so there are plenty of explanations. I can only say we both saw the same woman and were both sure of what we saw.

There were also many other things that happened. I came in one morning and found all the shoes from the display wall were on the floor in a neat line, laces tied neatly, heal to toe. I was the last one out the night before and I know 100% it wasn't like that when I left. We also came in one morning and found a display (model head, hat, pair of boots) had moved from a display shelf high on the wall to the middle of the shop floor - all neatly setup as it was in its original position. Logical explanation? Somebody with keys and alarm code was coming in at night and messing with us. However, there were 3 key/alarm code holders (including me) and the other 2 people just weren't the sort to do that......but, logically, it must have been one of them I suppose.

This..

Does happen, yes, as I posted. Sometimes a spirit can be - or leave - an emotional residue.

How? What's the residue made of? Who decided that if something is there, it must be either a spirit or 'emotional residue'? Can animals leave 'emotional residue'? Do they have spirits? After all, we're just like them, just more intelligent. Do apes leave behind 98% identical 'emotional residue'? Does any of this have any basis in fact?

A good friend of mine lived in Belsize Park in the second year of university. When I first visited the house I got a rush of a terribly negative feeling when I entered it, especially on the first floor, and I got it every time I went there.

And you attribute this 'negative feeling' to some sort of spirit? Why? Doesn't that seem like a bit of a leap?

Did you know that infrasound (low-frequency sound which we can't actually perceive) can cause feelings of fear and uneasiness?

4.5 Should paranormal researchers be interested in infrasound at all?
The work by Tandy & Lawrence (1998) & Tandy (2000) remains the only real basis for the
assumption of an infrasonic involvement in personal experiences at haunt locations.
Inevitably, such primary studies are flawed because there is little or no preceding data for the
author to make use of when developing their argument. However, there are clear similarities
between the reported experiences & sensations of those people who have experienced
infrasound and those reporting paranormal experiences & sensations. The author's pilot
studies in the former shipyard & in Mary Kings Close, together with the anecdotal reports
from the infrasound concerts also strongly suggest that infrasound is a component in the
production or enhancing of reported paranormal experiences. The suggestion of a link
between infrasound & reported paranormal experiences was also tested in 2003 in a series of
'Soundless Music' concerts that took place in Liverpool & London (Arenda & Thackara,
2003). Questionnaires handed to the audience showed a range of reported experiences; Many
unusual experiences were reported during the concerts, ranging from the emotional e.g.
„sense of sorrow‟, „brief moment of anxiety‟, „excited' to the physiological e.g. „increased
heart-rate‟, „headache‟, „tingling in neck and shoulders‟, „nausea‟, „sense of coldness‟
(Infrasonic, 2003). The 'Soundless Music' concerts used an infrasound frequency of 17Hz but
from their own spectral measurements of the infrasound we can readily see that infrasound is
present at all frequencies below 20Hz at considerable intensity.

My parents house is haunted. We have had a few experiences over the years.

I remember when we were quite young we could hear someone walking around in the loft. It wasn't expanding boards or any of that because these were clear footstep sounds heard by both my parents, my sister and me. My dad went into the loft and there was no one there.

I also remember that I woke up once in the middle of the night and walked out onto the landing and I could see a white figure with no legs standing there. I stood there for a while watching him and eventually he faded away. In the morning I told my dad about it and the first thing he asked was if he had any legs! Now bear in mind I hadn't told him this. Apparently he had seen him before as well but not mentioned it to us.

I also remember that my mum was woken up in the night by something sitting on her legs and she woke up and was quite scared because she couldn't move her legs out from under it. Eventually the weight just disappeared like she could move them again.

The last one I can remember was that one morning we all overslept and there was this loud knocking on our back door which woke us all up and prevented us from being late. There was no one there.
