Royal Fail, fake delivery!!!!!

Make sure to complain to the company that sent the goods

More of a general message rather than aimed at the OP. I believe (and people can confirm and deny) that the parcel is not on the van but they don't want to break the SLA they have with the vendor (Amazon, OCUK, Bobs books, etc)

So they don't have space on the van but they instruct the driver to post this the 'we tried to deliver' the box. Firstly this means they achieve the SLA because they attempted delivery and secondly it often saves them a return trip as you call up and pick it up!

They only suffer if you report it to the company you bought it from so they know this happens.

Exactly this! They must be carding people so they don't have to hand out compensation for deliveries they cant make.

They card you, put the next day on the back and voila they have 2 days to deliver you next day special deliveryl. Makes the numbers look good too

That's not true. Chances are that the postman has it in the van, but is too lazy to try knocking, so puts a card through. They wouldn't know about a special delivery packet until the postman gets it at the delivery office, so they can't just write up a card.

When I deliver, depending on the day, the majority of doors I knock on don't answer. I always try, but I bet there are some that don't. It's nothing to do with the numbers.

My old house mate was a postman for a year. He was one of the on foot ones. He said it was physically impossible for him to take all the parcels with him.

In the end he got fired for binning junk mail before doing his run, so he could carry more parcels. That was about 90 percent of the weight.

I agree...and the post office sent junk mail as well. It has no address on it just pure junk from companies direct from the post office.....obviously they get money from this.

Those posties are heavy as hell......

Video please,

Best case scenario: It could go viral, be in the tabloids and you'd of started a 2013 revolution to resolve issues at the royal fail, never know you might get an interview on watchdog (serious, no sarcasm intended here).

Worst case scenario: you've entertained the OcUK gang :)

He must have had the parcel with him, how else would he know to go to the house otherwise?

When you post a parcel the house number and postcode is logged into the computer

If drivers/posties are turning up without parcels i fully believe they are being told to to card these addresses when they are unable to deliver next day on time

It wouldn't be hard to stick a list of deliveries logged for his area in his bag and just card them

Dont buy the too lazy to try knocking, hes done 99% of the job, why bother driving there and walking up the path to card if you have the parcel, the only reason you'd do this is if you didnt have it

This has happened to me twice. The annoying thing is that the postie do it rogue so if you phone up the depot they see your parcel as 'out for delivery' even though it's probably under his feet. I caught my postie doing it and he said it's just what they do when they have 'too much' to deliver.

It's annoying because it means you either have to wait an extra day or two for re-delivery or have to pick it up from a depot. So either it messes about your day (it's not uncommon to arrange a schedule around a delivery) and you have to mess about another day, or you have to pick it up so you never actually got the delivery service you paid for. I think it's completely unprofessional.

None of your post is true. Maybe they log the address for special deliveries, but I doubt it.

Yep, I think you need to post this footage OP. Then we can harangue this postie until he changes his ways! :p

For every tracked delivery i have ever sent the clerk puts the postcode and number of house into the computer
This also helps to verify that you are sending to a valid address which means they are more likely to actually deliver

Mibbe your wrong but i dont care enough to convince you other wise

Caught a bloke in the act of doing it, he didn't knock and didn't even have the parcel with him.

I know posties are understaffed and overworked (I know guys doing 80-90 hour weeks, doing their rounds flat out and it's still not enough to keep up) but it is annoying.

No.

When you send a parcel its given a consignment number which is then manifested to the receiving depot.
The Parcel then travels from where it was collected, to the sort hub where it rides around a massive conveyor under a series of infra red scanners until it gets to the bay its supposed to, the scanner reds the consignment number on the box, and the parcel is directed down a chute to the waiting lorry to take it to the correct depot.

Now, if something happens to the parcel between you sending it, and when its supposed to arrive, it wont be tracked at one of the three points- received -sorted- arrived at delivering depot.

It will read on the manifest as not being received at one of these points.

When the depot thats receiving the goods finishes its incoming scan in the morning, it will recorded as not arriving and then thats sent to head office.

Nothing happens regarding your parcel till its found, in some companies it is physically impossible to load something on to a delivery scanner with no parcel present.

No drivers from ANY company drive to your house and put a card through the door without knocking, it is completely pointless.

From experience, if you are a serial "never in", then certain posties will just put a card through your door and never bother taking the actual item out because....you're never in. This should definitely not be happening with special deliveries though....even doing this with normal packets will get a postie in trouble.

Are you a serial "never in" by any chance?

Does anyone know how to use a Samsung Galaxy S2 as a USB storage device, the DVR player is refusing to acknowledge it. It used to work with my old Nokia N97 fine?

Tracked deliveries are different from special and recorded. You are getting confused.
