Tricked into a Google+ Account (YouTube)

How the hell are they allowed to trick YouTube users into joining Google+? I abhor social media and actually felt genuine revulsion when I saw what they had done, there was no way of not joining it and no way of knowing you were joining it until the actual account page, so I immediately closed the account (Cheeky ****ing *******s!) and now it looks like I've lost my YouTube account too.. :mad::mad::mad:
 
I feel EXACTLY the same way.

I don't use Youtube at all for social interaction anymore.
 
I am very wary of this too. I wanted to use the check-in feature on my Nexus 4 and it straight away pops up a box saying "To use Check-in you agree to use Google+: Yes, No". I immediately pressed no, but if you are too quick on the button press you could press Yes by mistake. I don't want to find out how hard it is to unsubscribe from it.
 
big deal. don't use google+ as a social interaction tool like facebook if you don't want to. google+ isn't a social network like facebook is any way, it's a whole load of feature all in one. it makes loads of sense for every reason to have the youtube account the google+ account, with the only reason not to it because users run scared and (imo stupidly) boycott things.

i wish more sites would use google+ as the login

Screw that, we'd be much better off with BrowserID.

You don't need to be forced into social network nor do you need to be forced into giving up your real name to have the ease of use of a single sign on.

What I don't like is that for some reason, on the Google page, it now displays my real name and there's no way of changing it back to show my Gmail address like it used to. Well, no way that I can see and I've spent hours digging through all the options.
 
Even better I was already a member of Google + but had not used it for year just to have a look around more than anything.

The suddenly one day Youtube and Google switched my artists page "cu3ed" to using my ****ing REAL name and account that was set up in Google+ not only that it was murder trying to find the right way to fix this and put back my Artists name.

As bas a Youtube now is with no proper home scren, nothing but popular channel being shoved down your neck, and the stae of the layout, im really wanting an alternative to appear.

Ive got a hate now for all things associated with Google, but YT is hard to escape.
 
YouTube keeps asking me to change my account name to my real name and what I use the channel for, I know as soon as I save those options, a google + account that I never created is there. So I keep telling it NO!

Unfortunately that's the norm for Google. Shovelling down their services whether you want it or not. It's their realm.

Funny thing is, I use Metrotube more than browser Youtube now, no forced popular crap everywhere at home. Even boycotted Google as a whole because of their way of doing things now.

(Yes I know, it's only 1 person but it's personal when they want to gather everything about me and on the internet.)

what's the issue with that though? will you now have to keep posting about your diner or how annoying it is when services are "forced down your throat"? course not. it's an account, don't use google + to post about your boring life and you'll be fine
 
You get the option of not setting up a google+ account, it's the first or second question they ask if you've already got a YouTube account...
