They're not even musketeers! They haven't got muskets!

This has never occurred to me and I feel like I've been made a fool of. Why has no one ever brought this to my attention? Did no one else notice? WTF was he playing at?

What realisations have you come to that make you feel a bit stupid for not working out earlier?

Also prepared for someone to remind me of several long musket-related scenes in the book/film/story that my mind has helpfully removed for me, to make me look like a fool twice over. Thrice, even.

One for all and all for one,
Muskehounds are always ready.
One for all and all for one,
Helping everybody.
One for all and all for one,
It's a pretty story.
Sharing everything with fun,
That's the way to be.

One for all and all for one,

That phrase is said twice in the first Three Musketeers book, the first time its so half-heartedly they have to say it again properly. It is not said again in any of the other books.

Strangely enough Dogtanian and the Three Muskehounds is the most accurate TV or film version of the novel.
