thinking about upgrading my earphones since i listen so much to music. got some sony MDR-EX90LP and while they are good they don't isolate sound very well.

any good recommendations??
just a couple of things:
i don't want any volume control or any of that rubbish - straight wires to the plug.
And, is there anywhere i can actually listen to them before i buy since it is a lot of money??

no ideas then?

let me ask another question - are there high street stores that sell earphones in that range? or is it really only internet based?

i had a look in hmv at the weekend and while they had some good headphones, their selection of earphones was very poor.

I'd highly reccomend AKG a550's
extremely comfortable (at least for me) and they can be found for just under your budget with a quick google

yeah - these are for my mp3 player as i'm walking everywhere.
Already have some hd600's at home but obviously these are not designed to be used whilst out and about.

i might have a wander around leeds at the weekend and see what people have - richer sounds, superfi, pc world even!

well, got some musical fidelity eb-50's for £135

trying them out now - certainly different to my ols sonys - less bass but not as boomy. more detail definitely.
come with 11 set of buds and only one actually fits my ear properly lol!

sometimes a bit harsh - going to need burning in for a while i think.

going to take them back to the sop tomorrow but i don't know whats going to happen as they have a non returnpolicy for earphones.

after listening for a while and comparing to my old phones and to my other hd600's these eb-50s are really not very good.
no bass, sound very closed and tinny - i can only assume they are faulty - i can't believe a pair of £150 earphones sound this poor.

but its weird - i've switching between phones for the last few hours and sometimes they sound ok, other times they sound awful.

think i've figured it out - i'm finding it difficult to get a decent seal in my ears hence it sounding different - going to have to experiment!

listened to them for the hour and a half journey this morning - nope, don't like them, too light weight, no impact in the bass at all and this is with a good seal in the ears.

rang up the shop and they are going to speak to musical fidelity and see what they say, but it looks like i just wasted £135. :(

probably going to have to go for some full size headphones and be one of those people - can't really justify taking the risk of buying something i can't listen to again.

the sennheiser momentum are looking like a possibility.
