Millionaire Boy Racers

Enjoyed it a lot. Thought the 5-0 were very unfair. Some people need to cheer up!

I agree, I thought the policeman was unfair considering the guy had all his documents.

I disagree about the residents need to cheer up though. As a petrol head I would love to see all the cars but as a resident it would wind me up no end. To be fair though one of the guys from Kuwait was quite understanding about the noise and in general I thought the Arabs came over pretty well.

I've seen many of those cars a few times,
The two white ferraris all the time.

TBH I think that listen to supercars in your house everyday while living in Knightsbridge for all of a month or so is a real Upper-Upper Class problem....

I like the way they all moaned about them yet not one of them had actually gone to speak to the drivers about it - they were probably unaware of the issues.

Worth watching though I thought, they are in another world though!

When the arab guy said "they hadnt talked to me about it and id take their complaint on board" etc he did have a massive grin on his face.

Super super rich people arnt exactly known for being understanding, i bet those kids can be a right pain in the backside, i doubt theyre as innocent as they made out

Might be a bit tricky for them to jump out in front of one of them as they blast past :)

Well it just showed how British like to complain, with petitions and signs.

Indeed and still not really getting themselves anywhere.... I can see the residents points, i think id get a bit fed up with a Ferrari or Lambo etc revving past my house every 5 mins, although they chose to live in the centre of the busiest city in the country :)

Just watched this.

I can understand the residents points, that said, as one said, it can make a nice spectator sport... I completely understand their point, but on the other hand, the Arabs seemed much more friendly, willing to help, etc... than the incumbent residents.

As they emphasised a couple of times, none of the residents have actually expressed their concerns to the drivers themselves.... They seem like decent enough blokes...

Also, impounding the Aventador was completely out of order. The guy had insurance. At that kind of money, he's clearly going to have the thing insured, and it was insured for EU use. Copper was just being a bit of a **** frankly. As they said, it is clear that they're being picked on...

You really that naive? That arab guy was struggling to hide the smirk from his face when he said he would take notice of complaints.

This programme has done well in painting young arabs to be squeaky clean and innocent, and older generation local residents to be stuck up racists. Neither of which I believe to be true.

Imagine if a load of yoofs from the other end of the country turned up where you live with a load of horrible barried up corsas.

How sympathetic would you all be?

Just because they have cool cars doesn't mean they aren't causing a problem.

I agree.

It was an incredibly structured show designed to get the ratings, rather than being a totally honest documentary I thought.

I think if people can look past being a petrol head, then you have to see how even if you love those engine notes that being woken up by people racing them down your street in the middle of the night is not on.

There were clearly a few residents who were level headed about it, but of course they focused on the guy with the racist undertones because it made it more controversial.

The Kuwaitis they introduced to us in the documentary didn't seem too bad, but we are frequently presented in the documentary with their fellow countrymen doing ridiculously silly moves on London streets. Wouldn't take much for somebody to get hurt with how many people there are in Central London. So while we may have seen some who were well behaved or were old enough to now know better, you can't deny that there are clearly some who do act like idiots and don't really care what anyone else thinks.

The most poignant scene of the documentary was where the filmmakers got their 'actors' to all meet up at once. Thus you had the guys who film the cars joining an irresponsible drive through London, while having them waiting with cameras to film the reaction of one of the people complaining. It couldn't have been anymore engineered.

The one guy made a comment about jealousy and how his car can get abused when away. I don't think its totally to do with jealousy, I think many people find it crass because thats our British viewpoint. Regardless of where you are from, your colour or religion you are going to get asked how you could buy a car that cost over a million pounds if you are 20-something. We have many rich people already in that part of London, but they don't take such a flamboyant attitude of showing exactly how much money that have. If the one guy honestly didn't want the attention, he could have just not imported his ostentatious supercars for three months and I doubt anyone would have cared.

There were two things that I saw about the documentary that I think are important points for London:

- The real 'fuddy duddies' with the racist undertones moaning about the multi-culturaism don't seem to understand that the WHOLE of London is like this. I think they would have a heart attack if they came up near me in Finsbury Park. It just goes to show that despite whatever riches you have, you can't keep yourself hemmed in a White British community.

- The problem with people driving cars without the right number plates, insurance or road legality is not just a problem with millionaire boy racers from Kuwait, its a problem all over London and many other major cities in the UK. It just doesn't have the level of Policing that can be done by traffic divisions on motorways and elsewhere. I can't count the number of times I've had problems with foreign L plate scooter drivers or cars that are clearly not road legal, yet little is done about them because they get away with it.

Indeed. If it was chavs burning it around a poor estate in hull everyone would jump on the bandwagon of burn them!!11, bad parents blah blah

Because they're minted it's a different story

Did the residents actually know where the Arabs lived to be able to ask them not to be so loud?

Well exactly. Just because you live in central London it doesn't make it acceptable for people to create excessive noise in supercars at 2am. Obviously there will always be some noise but you have to draw the line somewhere.

You could easily flip round the "if you live in London expect to be disturbed by revving supercars" to "if you want to drive a supercar fast why not take it to a track"?
