Wages confusion question.

Hi.

I'm proper confused over trying to determine what my wages will be.

For my training I will be on 9-5 5 days a week for approx 8 weeks apparently.

After this I will be on rotational shift patterns working 35 hours per week @ £7.50 per hour.

Now this is where I am getting confused, if I go onto Listen to the Tax Man and enter my tax code (810L) and then select 4 week, weekly, monthly and yearly, these are the sums:

As I will be getting paid weekly, it'll be 7.5 * 35 = so in weekly I type 262.5

Net wage is the following:

Weekly: £227.19
4 Weeks: £908.77
Monthly: £984.50

So if I'm being paid weekly will I only be getting £908.77 total in a month, as opposed to if I was being paid monthly I'd be paid £984??

Confuses me as to why a lot of people prefer weekly pay, or am I missing something??

What's (weekly) * 52 compared to (monthly) * 12

Four weekly is your salary divided by 52 times 4

Monthly is salary divided by 12

If it's something like being paid on the last Friday of the month some months will have 4 weeks some will have 5.

1 month ie February you will get 4 weeks pay the rest you will get 4 weeks and a bit pay.

Because a 30 day month is 4.285 weeks and a 31 day month is 4.428 weeks

If you got paid every 4 weeks, you would have 13 'months' in the year. Works out the same.

You're getting paid weekly - why are you thinking about it in monthly terms?

Weekly: £227.19 x 52 = £11813.88
4 Weeks: £908.77 x 13 = £1184.01
Monthly: £984.50 x12 = £11,814.00

It's all the same bar the rounding of pence.

Multiply your weekly rate by 52.

Multiply your monthly rate by 12.

Monthly by 12

If you get paid monthly, yes.

If you get paid weekly, you will get £227 a week. Over the course of a year, this will work out equivalent to someone on monthly pay getting £984 a month.
