Bit of help, I know my bits and bobs and perhaps I am being lazy but having sold one of my systems yesterday I am wanting to build another but this time with the budget set.

I already have keyboard, mouse and operating system & TV.

What would you recommend? something using the G860 or not?

I think something along these line is about the best you can get for £300 if you want to game on it.

YOUR BASKET
1 x AMD A10-5800K Black Edition 3.80GHz (Socket FM2) APU Trinity Quad Core Processor (AD580KWOHJBOX) £95.99
1 x Seagate Barracuda 7200RPM 1TB SATA 6Gb/s 64MB Cache - OEM (ST1000DM003) £59.99
1 x Asus F2A55-M LK AMD A55 Chipset (Socket FM2) DDR3 Micro ATX Motherboard £54.98
1 x Corsair Builder Series CX 430W V2 '80 Plus Bronze' Power Supply (CP-9020046-UK) £36.98
1 x TeamGroup Elite 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C11 1600MHz Dual Channel Kit (TED38GM1600HC11DC01) £35.99
1 x BitFenix Merc Alpha Gaming Case - Black £29.99
Total : £328.02 (includes shipping : £11.75).

EDIT: If you are absolutely limited to £300 swap the A10 for the A8. If you can stretch a little further, a heatsink to enable more overclocking would probably be my best guess.

Ok, since you already have the memory, i would stick in a cpu cooler suitable for FM2. That will allow you to overclock, assuming you are happy to do that.

I do not know a huge amout about the FM2 motherboard market, you may wish to study more carefully exactly which board you want. A lot of the features are very similar but ASUS are always reliable and good quality boards.

Forget to mention I had the memory too. Would that change your choice?

Thanks

Trinity does make the most sense. Problem is the A55 lacks HDMI output to connect to the TV

Ideally you want the fastest RAM you can get (higher than 1600mhz) to keep the IGP happy but the system will still run, it's not the end of the world and if you have RAM that's saving you £40ish off the budget :)

Go on youtube and you'll see even the A6 APU is gaming capable with 1600mhz RAM, the A10 is a quadcore with a better IGP. Personally I'd want to spend a bit more on the case but if gives you an idea of whats poss to the budget

My only query is would a H61/G860 with independent GPU be better?

I need to read up on the FM2 its new to me.

Does the Zalman T1 support an ATX supply? does it fit in ok, looks like it would need a smaller type.

It only takes mini-itx or mATX mobos (you'll note I've used a mATX mobo), it is cheap and personally I would want something better. PSU will fit fine though.

That's the A6 using 1600mhz RAM. I think you'll agree it's not too shabby at all ;) I used the A10 as I said which is a quadcore and has the better IGP

Strangely I like the look of the case.

Appreciate the help anyway folks. Got some food for thought.

Yep, although you may have some trouble installing a DVD drive, as on the case I used the button on the front of the case didn't even work so I had to manually remove the flap itself so I can get access to the button.
