Is my soundcard on its way?

Hi guys,

Bit of a repeat problem here; it happened at Christmas and its happened again now...

Basically, my machine is not 'detecting' my speakers and not giving me any sound in windows. Panicking, I resolved the problem at Xmas by removing my sound card (x-fi soundblaster) and using my mobo's onboard audio temporarily - I then had the brainwave of testing the card in another slot, which to my surprise, worked! It's been fine since then but now its happened again

Sometimes my card does this as well and I have to change the slot and reinstall the drivers. Make sure to wipe any remnants of the old drivers by running a program such as 'driver sweeper' in safe mode.

I swapped slots this morning and managed to get a bit of buzz out of my speakers - definitely think its the card
