I'm currently running a HD5770 and it's server me very well. But it's old now and I'm looking to buy a new one (gotta be from OCUK)
Budget is £200 to £250.

I'm open to anything AMD or nVidia

I did see this: http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=GX-312-SP&groupid=701&catid=56&subcat=
Fantastic offer, but what are your thoughts?

Gonna be paired with a 1090T on 890FX, and folding when I'm not editing video or gaming (I'm not a serious gamer, CSI is enough for me)

A 7950 can be had for £208 right now, delivered from a large reputable company.

Thus, £199 for a card that is massively inferior is not worth the money.

Even a 7950 from here at £230 odd is still massively better value. :)

7950 it is then, thanx guys.

@ALXAandy - I'll only ever buy from OCUK, unless I'm buying just a USB stick or something. Cheers for the suggestion tho ;)

Gonna upset the missus and go with SoundDoctors suggestion (she wanted the change for a girls' night out). What the heck lol

Thanks again guys :D

If not a serious gamer why spend £200+ on a card?

Grab a second hand 470 or something?

But like everyone has said the 7950 is a decent card, just be ready to live with some crappy drivers from AMD lol.

@weehamish.

Was you not happier with your GTX 660 than you have been with any ATi card you have tried? (You seem to have been through a few of them?)

Why recommend a card that you have pesonally had issues with?

Because he probably realises it was PEBKAC :D. Like it is 95% of the time with all driver 'issues' and that goes for both sides.

He was only suggesting exchanging his HD 7970 for a GTX 680 24 hrs ago and now he's recommending them?

The likelihood is there's nothing wrong with his 7970s and he realises that.

Nobody's actually seen his problem in a screenshot and the last driver issue he said he had was in Far Cry 3 with texture popping which, you've guessed it, is a game engine thing and nothing to do with AMD/nVidia drivers :D.

I'm not going to speak for him though - he's far too unpredictable to even try :D.

No theres something wrong somewhere and im not sure if its the 7970 or not.

I did post a youtube clip of farcry 3 and its proved to be the engine although it is worse on AMD cards.

These spikes im having are really weird ill try do a vid sometime but they pop and go ive never seen anything like it before ever! How can it in anyway be my fault? I install a game and play it i dont do anything else.

Like everyone says its hard not to say get a 7950 for the price. They do run every game at max settings but with some issues. Most people would probly live with what im seeing as they are on and off the screen before you can say "wtf"

Stuttering issues are still there with AMD cards, some people dont notice this either.

Ive just been playing AoE3 again and they are like shadows stretching across the screen its really hard to describe but they go nearly instantly.

Alls i know is somethings not working like it should and since its in games i blame the card/drivers.

Im still doing some tests with games ill make my mind up wed if i stick with it or go 680.

@weehamish, you are describing pretty much what I experienced with my HD 7950.

The 'artifacts' were so mild that I sent it back under DSR not RMA, it was hard to class as 'faulty' IMO.

Yep 7950 will destroy all and any games. If you're not a serious game I think a 2gb 7850 would be fine....but then again, 4 years is a long time so you'll probably need a 7950.

My general upgrade cycle in the past has been cpu 4 years gpu 2 years
