Finger lickin' bad

It doesn't have to be labeled and as such suppliers can just use halal and save themselves money. If they labeled it as halal you would get many people not buying it.

Iirc EU passed a law saying halal meat would have to be clearly labeled, but is due to be enforced for another few years.

But again, why would you got to the effort of adopting a non-standard method of slaughtering animals so you can capitlise on the Muslim market then not bother telling those customers you are trying to gain that you've done so?

I would wager there are more Muslims in the country than people who wouldn't buy the product because it's Halal. And if there are more people that avoid Halal 'on principle' than there are meat buying Muslims and you're afraid of a net loss in sales why bother with the Halal slaughter practice at all?

A) so you can supply a larger market
B) so you don't have to pay for the stricter laws.

While it hasn't got to be labeled, there's no downside.

My dad is a farmer, not religious at all. All his animals go to the halal slaughter house. He's seen all the 'methods' that different places use. He says halal is by far the less stressful for the animal.

That photo is gross though, looks like a monkey brain

How is there no downside?

With normal slaughter you can 'process' animals a lot quicker than you can with Halal as you can use machines. Halal requires manual slaughter with a (albeit short) prayer said each time. Not to mention the whole having to let all the blood drain etc that comes with halal.

No way is using halal slaughter cheaper.

Then why do you think it happens?
Fail link but you get the idea, also go down the page and look at the lamb column.

Tesco also admitted selling some halal chicken without labelling it as such.

Although halal does not mean it hasn't been stunned.

Funny thing about is the likes KFC McDs etc is they are coming under more scrutiny about what's in their food than any local restaurant/ café etc.

I've had KFC twice now, was rubbish both times, awful food!

Its really hit and miss - I had a 12 piece bargin bucket the other day and half of the pieces were absolutely gorgeous and the other half absolutely rank :| really wish they were consistant as I do get a hankering for that kind of chicken now and again.

Ewwww!

Similar to when that lady in the US got a battered chickens head in her meal lol.

I don't like KFC anyway,They don't get the feathers/hairs off properly before coating and cooking..

Oh lawd, does it make your bum sore?

Have you ever stopped to consider that not everyone is as 'right on' as you want to appear, and that some people may not agree with the whole practice of ritualistic slaughter and the animal bleeding to death whilst some bloke in a dress chants hoo doo?

Who in the hell actually looks at their KFC when eating it

Then again in Brussels there is no KFC so I don't need to worry :p

Are you sure? For the purposes of the slaughter house can a prayer not be said over the entire herd? Genuine question btw.
