Pc or next gen console

Hit us with a budget and we can work some magic. I'll embed a video from one of our forum members who has made a console killer with the i3 and a 7850 (SSD is in there for rapid load times)

wait until a few months after the new consroles come out and then get a top of the line rig then, spec depending on how the console ports are benchmarking!

Crytek went to Microsoft and told them to make their console powerful enough to run the latest Crytek engine and Microsoft declined, saying that it would cost too much. That means that there is no chance in hell the 'next gen' consoles will match the PC's we have now

Haha, sounds about right :p
Do you have a source for this though?

Always hate threads/discussions based on this.

At the time of release a console will STOMP even the best PC's, why? Optimized to hell with close to best gear to suit at the current time, in 6-12 months(probabaly less depending on release date?), PC's roll over them and in another 6 month time you can build a low-mid range PC costing £500-650 that out performs the consoles by a massive amount while being future proof for at least 1 year, 2 if you get a good build/price.

By best PC's I mean most affordable within reason, ofc a £5000 PC is going to stomp a next gen console or easily be on par with it but give it a few month and even the average PC can match/beat it with much more functionality.

Personally if you can afford it, get both. If not I would wait and see what hardware the next gen consoles have.

I probably predict they will go in the middle between current gen and "high end" computers. A quad-core processor equivalent to the cheaper low end i5's, 4gb ram and maybe a gtx 675m or 680m with 512mb vram. That's just my two cents though. ;)

Edit: Price at launch I'm guessing will be £320+ I forgot how much the 360 launched for but I think it was around that much too.

Xbox 360 launch price was £279.

Why would they need such powerful GPUs? They only have to hit 30fps! That's why they are cheaper, they simply don't need the grunt to hit 90fps+ etc for smooth gameplay.
