Just how safe is london to visit ?

If you're going to defiantly (sic) do London Museum and London Eye, those places are definitely ;) safe as they are tourist hot spots.

To be honest, London is not really "unsafe". Sure there are a few dodgy spots where crime is higher, but they are usually based around gang related crimes, and more anti social behaviour rather than a full on master criminal organised killings etc :p

As long as you're aware it's full of hustle and bustle then you'll be fine - lots of people take their kids into town with no issues.

What does your kid like to do? If you're going to London though you have to visit Hamleys! :D Are you after education or just a bit of fun? I personally love the Natural History Museum and the Science museum. :)

Very unsafe. Hostility here is at an all-time high and we are currently at SD2 [social defcon 2].

Just be sure to wear the masks they give you when you get off the train, and always stare at the floor when walking.

Try to be indoors by 11pm if you can because of the bats. The..... bats.

I moved to London 3 years ago from Manchester. Trust me London feels like a much safer place than Manchester. In the time I been here I have not seen any trouble. People walk around with their phones and iPads in their hand, would be asking for trouble if you did that in mancheater .
 
I've been stabbed at least twice a day for the last 30 years. You learn to just accept it, and embrace it. Now instead of greeting people with "Hello" I just stab them.
 
I recommend a stroll along the boulevards of Tottenham and perhaps purchasing some fresh herbs in Brixton.
 
With a bit of planning and depending on your itinerary/your ability to walk it is often possible to largely avoid the Tube - it's much quieter during the middle of the day but even so it's often quite hot and means you miss much of what else is going on in London. Have a look on a map as well as on the Tube map since the distances represented on the latter can be misleading.

The Natural History Museum is great but you'd know better than us if it's the sort of thing your daughter is interested in.

My suggestion is to go to the Aquarium, then go for lunch somewhere, then go to the Natural History Museum or the Zoo. Then a trip to Hamleys and back on the train. You could buy her an ice cream from Gelupo before you go to Hamleys as they aren't all that far apart.

There's only so much a little'un can do in a day without getting too tired.

1. Aquarium
2. Hamleys
3. Cable Car/London Eye
4. Natural History Museum
5. London Zoo (unless it's raining then don't bother)

If you can get four of those in in one day then you'll be doing extremely well and will probably be rushing a bit.

5. been to a zoo (colchester) quite a few times so we will give that a miss thanks :)

I took a six year old a few years ago - we did: -

Buckingham Palace
Madam Tussauds
Boat trip on Thames
Natural History Museum (twice!)
General wander around to see Houses of Parliament etc

Tbh you could do a weekend in the Natural History Museum!

Good choice. That sounds like a really fun day out. /jealous.

What I would say is that the Cable Car is quite a long way away from the other things.
