I assume this is the right forum.

Got a cd for xmas that i want to put onto itunes so i can play it on my ipod, but when i insert it into my dvd drive it doesn't read it at all.

The drive reads other cd's / dvd's etc fine but not this one.

Is this some form of copy protection? and if so can i get around it?

My dvd drive is a Lite-On (don't have exact details to hand) oh and the cd is the 'Lost Boys' soundtrack (a classic).

Edit: This should probably be in optical storage and writing.

As far as I know (unless its a re-release of the CD) there's no copy protection on the Lost Boys Soundtrack, I have a copy, and it's currently sitting in my mp3 collection ripped using EAC.

The only thing I can think of, is either as TALON1973 say's the CD is faulty, or the Laser on your drive just doesn't like this CD... Which I've had in the past!! I have about 6 CD's in my collection that my old LiteOn drive didn't like!, but on putting them into my new LG drive I could rip them no problems!!

Sorry not to be much help dood! :)

Some 'CDs' are not actually Red Book Compliant. If this is the case it WON'T say Compact Disc Digital Audio (in the logo type style) This is lame copy protection and should be returned to the the seller as not fit for purpose.
