Hi all. as the title says i want to hand in my notice.

the issue is that i booked a month off work between mid feb/march next month and got the holiday approved last year.

i carried over 5 days from last year and i am usually entitled to 23 days per calendar year running from jan to december.

i am on a 3month notice period and what i would like to do is hand in notice now and get for this month and next month/half of march for when i am on holiday.

Now i have read that any holidays u do make that is over what you are allowed(average of 2 days per month) u have to pay that time back but the fact that my notice period is 3months, will they deduct the time i owe from my notice period so instead of having a 3 month notice, it works out as 3months minus 15 days of unallocated holidays i owe?

i do not want to suggest or agree to do a 1month notice and go on holiday and come back broke and no money for anotehr month or so so would like to get paid for at least while im on holiday.

i also do not want to hand in my notice AFTER i come back as that means waiting till June! to leave.

Thanks

From what I remember, this is up to your company. They do not have to allow you holiday leave during your notice period. Though the correct answer as stated above, is to ask them.

Well if i ask then i might as well hand in my notice while im at it :(

Holiday booked as well as i am going abroad

Either way you do it, as it seems you are taking pretty much all your holiday allowance in one go. Whenever you resign you are going to be looking at owing the company days for the holidays you haven't yet accrued this year.

Ahh ok cool.

But whilst on holidayand whilst on notice i still am working and stil get 2 days per month allowance meaning 5 days + 2x3.5 and that leaves me around 10 days i owe them instead of 15

+1. When I left my old place of work they actually paid me extra due to the holiday I had not used up. So I would assume it would work the other way around. The answer may be in your employment contract/employees hand book. If not, I guess you will have to ask.

Cancel your leave and ask them to give it you in cash instead?

Some companies will not but I have done it prior. I have always been paid for any left over holiday I was owed when handing my notice in and leaving also.

Just to clarify - when you say you are 'on' a 3 month notice period do you mean you length of notice is 3 months or you are on 3 months probation?

Most likely, your final pay cheque will simply include deductions for any days pro-rata that you did not accrue as holiday. Not much you can do about it, unless you can negotiate a shorter notice period, or are in an industry in which a few choice words could land you gardening leave.

3 month notice. not on probation.

Looking to hand in my notice tomorrow and go from their.

From what i can udnerstand, whatever the date i leave they will deduct 10/11 days if my end date is after my holiday.
