ASUS Releases ARES II Graphics Card w/ Dual HD 7970 GHz Cores

LMFAO @ THAT

$999 i bet... lol

3x 8pin for power HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
its own intergrated WATERCOOLER LOL

Have i got my point across yet people....

Cooling a pair of 1100mhz 7970's (ghz so ~1.25v) on a single 120mm radiator...bravo Asus.

At least its a looker! Well in the grand scheme of 7990's anyhow.

I think it looks good but those push/pull fans will seriously need to work hard and that means lots of noise.

To use two of those in xfire would be a nightmare if you want to oc as well.

Finding the space to put 2 rads and 2 PSUs

Bring on the 8xxx series please

"According to ASUS, this dual slot design allows for temperatures which are up to 31°C cooler than a reference GTX 690."

Impressive if true especially if the noise isn't intrusive.

i like it, I would rip that rad off though and connect it to my wc loop... but the 7970 is old now...

Well I suppose it is coming up to it's first birthday, but in GHz form it still is the fastest gpu you can get.

Think back the 6970 was launched December 15 2010 then replaced January 9 2011, and the 5870 before that was launched September 23 2009.

So the cards before it were older before they were replaced, 15 months for the 5870 so the 7970 is still young yet.

31c cooler then a 690, so at worst around 50c core temps....not happening on a single 120 asus. A thick 240 maybe just, even that might be a push.

Can't wait to see some reviews of this, if asus are telling the truth then they have an aio cooler far better then any custom loop :o:p

From what I have seen of Asus custom dual GPUs cards in the past once the reviewers have got their frills playing with them and people look closer at the real performance it is sometimes disappointing. Their Dual GTX 580 had a lot of weakness and sometimes got out performed by a crappy standard GTX 590.

For the money Asus will charge for the card in the OP, if I owned one I would want to put at least 1.4v through each GPU and I don't think the cooler would be up to it.

8000 series looks like a flop/refresh by the looks of it. So ASUS may be ok here for a while in terms of timing.

Roll on 9000 series.
