New York in Jan - Suggestions

Does anyone have any tips for the order to do some of these things in?
In order to maximize what little time i have there...

I'd recommend doing Rockerfeller early morning. Queuing in the city is insane (probably more so last week), but we managed to reach the top of the rockerfeller in about 30 mins (security checks etc included). We got there about 09:30AM. I noticed the queues were much longer later in the day, and if they are anything like the empire state building 3-4hour queue I stood in without sleep then you'll be glad you went early!

I went to New York for 6 days in Dec 2009. Things I can remember doing and enjoyed were:

Ellis Island
Statue of Liberty/Liberty Island
9/11 museum in the meatpacking district
Ground zero
Central park (including the zoo)
New York Knicks basketball game at Madison Square Garden
Cirque Du Soleil "Wintuk" performance at Madison Sq. Garden
Comedy performance in one of the bars on times square (can't remember the name now, sorry)
MACY'S!!
5th Avenue
Went to Brooklyn

As well as all the other general touristy stuff, I was fascinated when I went because it was the first time I had ever been to America.

Thanks for this. Liberty Island was trashed during the storm so it is closed until April. I'm going to get the free Staten Island ferry which goes past the statue of liberty.

I booked tickets for the Rockefeller. I assume there is only the security and no additional queue.

I've done the Staten Island ferry too. I guess I was quite lucky when I went though because even though it was December, it was bizarrely warmish so everywhere was good to go.

Well, there are lifts (elevators) and I imagine they don't let everyone up at once. The security is very quick, but you could be waiting a long time just because there are lots of people.

Look out for the room at the top with cool lights that follow you around on the ceiling :D

When you buy the ticket you get a time. We went at 6pm hoping to catch the sunset (which was around 6:30), but was given 09:50pm slot. So we went to have food in Time Square and went back at 9:50 and went straight through security. There was a little wait in the elevators but not much. So that was when that photo was taken.

Ah right, I had the New York Pass... traded it for a ticket and they didn't say any time, just walked straight up.

I went over the NYE break so I imagine it was a lot more crowded than normal.

Don't bother with shuttle bus, if you are flying to JFK take the airtrain to Jamaica and get the LIRR direct to Penn station bang in the middle of manhattan it's like $20 and take 30mims

None that arnt clichèd. :p

Truth be told i didn't enjoy NY all that much. :(
All i could think was "meh, overrated, seen that before, seen better, seen bigger, ect;". :p
Was impressed by the liveliness of it all though, everything seemed 24/7!
