AMD Radeon 8000 Announced at CES

Lol @ the these aren't an upgrade on the old cards comments.. These are just re-branded HD 7000 cards for OEM..

The real deal HD 8000 series isn't announced yet...

So this is just AMD's way to shift old stock basically by labelling 8**** onto them.

No, these aren't in the retail channel. These are for OEM's it's normal for cards to be rebranded in this way for OEM. I guess this made big news because there isn't much exciting going on in the PC space right now. I expect we will get some info on the real HD 8000 GCN 2.0 soon..

I really hate it when AMD and Nvidia do this type of thing, just a cheap trick to try and clear there old stock.

The OEMS request it..... The 7*** series is still current, so its not like they are trying to offload discontinued parts as new...

Rather annoying to see them pulling the nvidia tricks I used to complain about.

Those are definitely 7970 chips. Mine runs those clocks easily.

I've had this card since April, I'd like to think I can go 2 years with it without it struggling too much. I guess Crysis 3 might force me to turn settings down though.

Depends what res you game at, i would have got a 7870 though.

Will probably be a process shrink that uses less power, similar to the Sandy to Ivy shrink. GCN is still a very new architecture and in it's infancy.

Maybe Dave but from the rumours, those specs on these OEM cards are looking like the supposed 15% increase that is being touted.

Good for us and hopefully Nvidia do the same, so my hardware is worth more for a while longer.

lol... these are not the 8### series cards, they are 7### re-badged, they are exactly the same specifications.

The 8### series will have a lot more Stream Processors.
