Far Cry 3 Thread

single player is really great, story started strong and had me wondering but in the end it was disappointing. Coop was terrible but I saw it through, this and xcom are my games of the year.

I'm rather an exception to the rule in that I insist upon playing a game on the hardest possible difficulty without dying. If I die, I restart from scratch. I've completed the vanilla version of Call of Pripyat using this method. I didn't die once on master difficulty. (This was accomplished using trial and error, and a significant element of luck)
I'm currently 40% of the way through Far Cry 3 and I've yet to experience a single death on warrior difficulty. So far I've captured all 20 outposts on the north island, plus 11 of the available radio towers. I've recently completed the mission in which you save Oliver. My current load-out consists of the Shadow, Shredder, AMR and Grenade Launcher.

How many games do you complete a year?

Call of Pripyat is literally the only game I've completed using this extremity. I've come very close with many others, but eventually suffered at the hands of insurmountable odds.
I don't play games with the intention of completing them, instead I treat them as an endurance test of sorts. The further I get, the better.

My friend introduced me to this style of play. He has completed the likes of Resident Evil 4 and Bioshock on the hardest difficulties without dying, which must be some sort of record.
To date, my current accomplishments include completing Left 4 Dead 2's first campaign on expert with just the AI! Also, I very nearly completed The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion by refining my character using an almost perfect levelling method.
It takes extreme patience, but this method is truly unlike anything I've experienced as far as gaming is concerned. It produces quite the adrenaline rush, since you're fighting for survival to avoid such consequences as starting over.

I really need to get round to finishing this. Played a fair bit when it came out but then got distracted by other games.

I got the game on Friday and I'm loving this. It reminds me of the original Far Cry which was excellent until the flaming mutants came into the storyline and, in my opinion, the game went downhill from there.

I've managed to get 4 shark skins to give me a 4 weapon holster and a wallet with space for $6K. :) I can now have fun looting money and stuff to buy some of the more expensive weapons.

I wouldn't bother! Just get a few radio towers.

Bother with buying the expensive stuff? Yeah, I didn't realise you actually could get weapons free. I thought it meant that for each couple of radio towers you got weapons added to the list that you could buy from. :o

Cracking game. Though I do hate the Komodo dragons. :D

Got this for Christmas and i love it, running it max on my 965@4GHz and my 7970 overclocked on max sliders in RadeonPro with a 50% fan speed to keep it cool (settings only come on when i'm playing Far Cry 3 thanks to RadeonPro's genius in implementing it as part of a profile rather than a global thing).

Edit: Leopards are crafty buggers.

Was really confused last night, couldn't work out where the Skrillex/Damien Marley music was coming from, then it twigged! Quite quickly gone down as one of my favourite all time gaming moments.

Took me all of 30mins from starting the game to turn the music off entirely. If there was an option to turn it down maybe it would've stayed on. Far more immersive to just listen to the environmental sounds.

And Bishie, that's insane! I thought I was patient. I can understand the commitment to the process, do you see the endurance accomplishment more important than the fun aspect? Or do you find it fun imposing that kind of rule on yourself? Part of the fun for me is definitely embracing the moments when it goes completely wrong, or even pushing it on purpose. "I wonder what happens if I drive as fast as possible off this mountain towards that village..." Same goes for real life, to a point.

I did the same but I soon missed the music and turned it back on.

I hadn't actually noticed any music before that part, which is why I couldn't work out where it was coming from to start with.

Completed this yesterday, brilliant game. Still going to go back and do the remaining outposts/radio towers and such.

Didn't want to play this, didn't think it'd be special. I can already tell after taking over the first outpost I'm going to be hooked!

I just installed this game. Im really annoyed - I thought this was a 100% free-roamer but Im getting cheap-shooter messages <<WARNING LEAVING MISSION AREA>>

Wth Far Cry 3??? Mr Free-roamer "choose any route you want"?? And all those cartoon icons and flashing leaves in the forest showing us what to grab? Looks very console-y!!

:(

Hoping theres some mods out there that will disable all the above. Apart from these gripes it looks stunning :)
