Job Centre threatening to stop my benefits.

PS Vita.
£45 a month phone contract.
Driving Round in Porsches.
Benefits.

I wish i had your life pal!

Find a rock/metal themed pub, they won't have any issues with piercings then :p

Jaffa_Far showing the flaws in our benefits system once again, aren't you giving your dad any of your JSA for food and bills?

JSA is to support yourself whilst you look for work, if your dad is supporting you, you don't actually need it.

To me it looks like you're just frivolously spending it on things you could do without.

I give him £100 a month. He doesn't support me. I then have £125 a month for my own uses, to buy clothes if needed, to pay travel to and from interviews if needed.

Sorry for being on JOB SEEKERS whilst I wait...what was it I'm doing...oh yeah...WHILST IM LOOKING FOR WORK! My contract ended at Argos right after Christmas and my phone was a fantastic upgrade deal, £45 a month for unlimited calls and texts and £50 for the phone.

Fantastic upgrade deal != £45 a month.

Including the initial cost of the phone, that's £600 you've paid for a years use of mobile month. That is easily a months rent & some bills.

You cant be overqualified for a supermarket role.... especially at your age? Unless you gave them the impression that you are not looking to stay full time and would move on to finer pastures at the first opportunity.

I am pretty sure that's just something they tell you when you are not what they are after.

Hey I could be wrong though. It wouldn't be the first time.

I used to get the "over qualified" line a lot looking for those kind of jobs around his age no matter how much I tried to dumb down my CV, etc.

So, when I went the Job Centre yesterday I mentioned this, it seems as Head Office ****** up when I changed my address and only changed my contact number.

I was also told that taking out ALL my piercings would help get a job, I could understand if I was getting let down at interview stage, but I'm not. I have a few piercings but nothing to put anyone off, Argos mentioned they were interesting and the area manager said as long as there not on my actual face that it would be fine. I have my tragus, helix and lob in my left ear pierced and a scaffold in my right ear, also my tongue is pierced, would that put you off employing me in a supermarket or normal shop or even a warehouse?

Yes.

No disrespect, but most potential employers will not give you a job the second you walk through the door.

Are you seriously turning up to a job interview with all that in your face?

Nope, I have been taking them out for interviews, the Job Centre told me to them out end of, even my tongue bar...

How old are you?

Join the Army/RAF/Navy in a trade (IT, Engineering, Intelligence, Police etc etc). Spend 5 years plus serving, getting paid well, get qualifications, meet great new friends and get unforgettable life experiences. Leave services when fed up, use your qualifications to start a new career in civvy street.

I left school with 5 GCSE and didn't bother with college. I'm about to leave after serving for 13 years and I'm walking into a very well paid job as a contractor.

Life is what you make of it, there is money to be made. Spend every day of your life working as hard as you can and not take it for granted and reap the reward.

No, it's not all easy, times will be hard, but IMO bugger searching for ***** dead end jobs in supermarkets etc and do something with your life.

If that isn't for you then do bar work, bars are always hiring. But I know what I'd rather do if young again.

It's much like hard work for him.

Unfortunately statistics do show that you're less likely to get the job with visible tatts / piercings. It's not how it should be, but it is how it is.

How long till you get your license back?
That will help I'd imagine.

Have you been to any recruitment agencies? JS+ are terrible and useless at helping you find work. What can you do?
