I'm looking for a particular phrase but Google is failing me.

Basically I'm looking for a latin phrase that sums up companies doing the minimum required by the law.

Any clever people here know?

Is there an actual latin legal term for statutory minimums? Or are you just looking for a Latin phrase to say in lieu of 'Statutory Minimum Compliance"

You're probably after "de jure", which is "in law". It goes hand in hand with "de facto" which is "in practice" (actually "in fact", but that's not how it's used in language now).

If that's not what you meant, then I have no idea!

I saw it in an article somewhere, and haven't been able to find it since.

It's basically a phrase (I'll take what I can get) which states that they will do the bare minimum required by law. Or somethign to that effect.

Are you thinking of de minimis? It does mean a particularly small or trifling amount but it wouldn't normally be used to describe a company doing the legal or statutory minimum.

I'm not sure about legal terms, maybe one of the legal beagles like Nitefly might be of more help, but I guess you could say ....[Obligatio..]."Ex Necessitate Legis" which basically means "Out of legal necessity" or "Ipso Jure" which means 'just because of the law'....or maybe "Leges (or Lex) Scriptae"...'Statutory Law'

Not much help I'm afraid.
