just received 50gb with my new samsung phone

but it says for 2 years

what happens after 2 years ? you either pay or lose all the data stored in your dropbox ?

very clever of them to get people using it and attached to having it, then forcing them to pay later on

I imagine that they will stop you adding anything to it unless you pay or remove stuff 'til you're within your limit.

When you are almost near your 2 years they will start sending notifications to trim down data, eventually they will cut down to your original allowance unless you pay for the 50 gb.

At the end of the day it's only 50gb plus is synced to your different PCs/Macs so you're not going to lose any data even if you don't manually copy it off. Also I'm sure by the time most peoples free space has run out there will be other offers you'll have added to your account and online storage costs for 50gb will have decreased anyway.

I had a look when I activated mine last night. From what I could tell after the 2 years you'll only be able to access the 2GB default, but everything else will still be there.

Technically you should be able to download 2GB, delete it and do the same over and over till you have all your **** :).

Could you give more details onthe deal? I'm after a decent amount of cloud storage to back up my photos - also due to upgrade my phone (Samsung G Note 2) very shortly.

Have to say i've become slightly attached to drop box. So the thought of having the allowance cut is a bit pants. Ahh well will wait and see i guess :D

Just activate your dropbox account during first time phone installation, for me this was on my S3. Then you instantly get 50gb for 2 years.

Thankfully I'll still have circa 17gb regardless.

Hi,

We just wanted to give you a heads-up that the extra Dropbox space that you got with your HTC phone is expiring soon. Your account will return to 5 GB of space on January 10, 2013.

Don’t worry if you currently have more than 5 GB of stuff saved in your Dropbox. Your files will still be accessible but we'll stop saving new files or updates to your Dropbox until you’re back under your space limit. You can read more about this in our Help Center.

There are also lots of ways to get more Dropbox space, like referring friends, connecting your Twitter and Facebook accounts or upgrading to Dropbox Pro. Check out here to learn more.

Thanks again for supercharging your HTC phone with Dropbox!

Later in the month, T-Mobile will be introducing its first 4G LTE network market in Las Vegas, and it now appears that two of the first T-Mobile 4G LTE smartphones have been confirmed as T-Mobile says that the Samsung Galaxy S3 and Galaxy Note 2 will be hitting its network at some point in the future.

Lol, what a terible bot, can't even tell that it's in the wrong country's forums :p.

Ah nice Skyfall, I thought it'd said that I would only be able to access my default storage until I deleted some, saves me having to download>delete>download>delete etc. :).

Edit: Here's what it says about the offer:
Dropbox terms said:
If your paid account expires or is downgraded, or the space granted to your account by a promotion expires, all of the files in your Dropbox folder will still be available to you on your computers, phones, and via the Dropbox website. However, Dropbox will only sync the amount of space allotted to your Dropbox account. This means that new files added to your Dropbox will not sync to other computers or be available online until the amount of disk space used in your Dropbox drops below the amount of Dropbox space allotted to your account.

Anyone who took the 48GB offer will get an extra 3GB default when it ends as well, so assuming you're on the 2GB default you'll have 5GB when it expires :).
