Things that used to exist and now don't...

Amen.

Mice with balls in them. Oh how I loved to clean them out every five minutes.

We're still using them at work.

All our computers are about 15 years old with the exception of one Ipad. They only upgraded the memory from 128MB a couple of years ago. With the plethora of stuff autoloaded, they're using ~250MB just sitting at the desktop doing nothing. It could take over 30s to get the Windows calculator up. I've no idea what's in the network server, but judging by performance I think it's a couple of Zilog Z80s. Everything falls over frequently and simply entering a couple of numbers into the simple accounting system (it's a cash business, so figures have to be entered manually) can easily take >10mins. The data entry itself takes about 15 seconds of that. The rest is waiting while logging in and loading the software.

Ball and roller mice are a minor bother in comparison.

The jingle jangle of glass milk bottles on the milk float at 5am and the satisfying sound of the gold top being placed outside your front door. The subsequent dash to bring in the bottles because you want to either drown your corn flakes, prevent kids from nicking them or to get there before birds pecked through the lid.

Busy pubs. They used to be filled to the rafters come Fri/Sat and busy on weekdays. I would often pop in to my local after work and could be guaranteed a good chitchat or have to write my name at the bottom of a long list of people wanting to play pool. These days there's no one to play pool with.

I haven't seen a beige computer case since the mid 90s.

The noise of dialing and handshaking from modems. It reminded me of the noise of loading from tape on a ZX Spectrum.

Eh, when I were a lad... :)

Mobile video rental vans, oh and the mobile vans with fizzy drink. Can't recall what brand they were now, but they used to collect the empties too!

We used to call him the "Pop Man". Mum would get us kids about 6 bottles between us.

I think the pop we had was Alpine but I could be wrong.

Taz'. I know they were basically rebranded as caramel freddo's but they never tasted the same :(.

Fox kids. Power Rangers was on all the time, it was awesome :D.
