Hey guys, I was wondering if someone could help me.

I went ahead and bought something overseas that is getting delivered to me using the FedEx delivery service. There was two options one for £18.99 and one for £28.99, obviously me being eager to get my item, I opted for the more expensive option to get it quicker.

I asked the ebay user to give me the tracking number for all of the information, so I could obviously track it. I did that and it stated that the shipping service provided was "FedEx International Economy" which is something like 4-6 days service, on e-bay, the estimated time was 08th -10th but on the actual FedEx site is that it will not arrive til the 14th (I ordered on the the 6th, it was shipped on the 7th bear in mind, but that's not important, here's what is.)

I paid for an express service, but to my knowledge the "FedEx International Economy" is not an express service, one called: "FedEx Internation Priority" is the express service, the bad thing is, I cannot find anything on FedEx's prices, I've looked over their whole site, it gives you general and specific information about their services but it just doesn't give you an actual price listing.

tl;dr - Package bought from e-bay, paid £28.99 for express shipping, looked at shipping, it's not express, does 3-5 days for express international shipping sound right to you?

Where is it coming from? How large is the package?

It's difficult to say whether the cost is OK without knowing the details, but I would certainly have expected a faster shipment than that if you've paid extra for an express service.

if it's from the usa then yes thats about right and time is good if you get it in that time frame, i normally take standard for shipping payment and it can take upto 2 weeks but then carriage is free anyway for standard for me, as long as item is over a certain amount.

china etc can take longer so not worth express etc, as most of the time it doesn't come any quicker so for me isn't worth the extra cost

It's coming from Hong Kong, China.

China can take longer? Ah that sucks, ah well, at least I know for next time right? that's all that matters, I just thought that if I pay for the extra shipping it may come a few days earlier, 3/4/5 days earlier? something like that, I've never ordered internationally before you see.

A true express would be 1-2 days but that is usually silly money. I've got something coming "priority" international through fedex from the US. It was despatched on 31st Dec but as of the 6th Jan it was still in the US...

Did it have the shipping times or service next to the prices? Otherwise I am afraid you just 'assumed' the more expensive was faster. It could be better insurance, or just there to confuse you :p.

Most couriers do not sell to anyone without an account, and all prices are different depending on volumes, averages and locations etc.

Wow, that's a long time, 2 weeks+, I hate waiting for parcels.

It did actually, here they are:

£18.99
United Kingdom
Other P&P (Economy Delivery from outside UK)
Estimated between Thu. 24 Jan. and Mon. 11 Feb. - Which I believe was the standard delivery.

£28.99
United Kingdom
Other P&P (Express Delivery from outside UK)
Estimated between Fri. 11 Jan. and Tue. 15 Jan. - Which is the one that I paid for, but the dates were earlier, as I bought it 3'ish days ago.

I mean, either way it'll be here on Monday, but I was just curious if i've been ripped off with me being charged for the express service and only getting standard, it's not that much of a big deal, I just like to know these things is all.

Update: It says that my package is now "in transit" but it's been bumped up from the 14th and now it wont get to me until the 16th, Never ordering something from HK ever again, haha!

Mine now says it has cleared customs here, so with a bit of luck will be delivered tomorrow. So 7 working days.

Did you ask the seller what delivery service is the economy? Depending on weight it could be just Hongkong post while the express is FedEx.
I ordered some tools a few years back from Hongkong and it arrived in about 4 days via DHL.
