Windows 7 updates failing

yep same here, as i say it was one flaky stick out of four that caused the issue. Corsair XMS3 ram so i changed to geil black dragon. But as soon as i pulled the flaky stick all my updates completed

Completely filling me with confidence there as my RAM is also Corsair XMS3. Will run memtest and if that passes try the manual method of pulling the sticks out to see if it completes.
 
Ran through memtest last night. Got to pass 4 with no errors but my machine seemed to have hung? not sure if it was just that it only managed to get to pass 4 but it everything seemed to have passed ok with no errors.

Guessing it's manually pull RAM sticks as my last option to try before re-install?

yep, always worth pulling the sticks even if memtest passes :)
 
So to update this;
RAM tried single stick, 2 sticks, old ram and new ram. All updates failed.

Attempted repair install of windows last night and somehow managed to completely re-install so fingers crossed problem is solved now. , just waiting for SP1 to download.
