New car time (£8k)

To be honest there's very little to go wrong with the petrol engines, it sounds like a good choice for you

If you have a good credit rating check out ratesetter - I got a cracking rate from them for a small loan not so long ago

I just picked up a 2009 Honda Civic 2.2 diesel for 8k, really good car, and I actually love the engine. Enough poke, decent fuel economy and cheap to run. Comes with plenty of toys too.

TBH I think I would rather have a Civic than a Focus. You don't really get much in terms of gadgets in the Focus. The interior of the Civic is much nicer are far more roomy.

They do have a slightly harsher ride however.

The 2.2 engine is a great diesel engine and pretty solid reliability too. Interior is subjective - I can see how it's love or hate it though! Some bits are a bit flimsy/plasticy but I find the seats to be very comfortable

I much prefer mine to any focus i've had both inside and to drive but I would rather have a well specced petrol focus than a petrol civic (FN2 excepted) if I'm honest, I just don't like the 1.8 engine.

The Titanium / titanium x are fairly well specced and the focus will also be a fair bit cheaper to run

Not this again. Seriously? We went through this last time. He's a normal guy posting a normal spec me thread coming from a collection of normal cars looking to buy one normal car. Absolutely nothing in his post suggests that what he really needs is a 2.5 litre Turbocharged Ford Focus hot hatch that does 20mpg and takes £100+ a corner tyres.

Why does this always happen on OcUK?

When replying to a 'spec me' thread take into account the personal circumstances and requirements of the OP don't just blindly post whatever you'd buy for the money as it helps nobody.

Not everyone wants a performance car!

I'm gutted that no one else mentioned an ST Focus after that post. :D:p
