Happy new year gang. :)

Just wondering if people are still using 3rd party launchers these days and if so, which ones? I've been looking at Nova and Apex launcher but haven't decided which to try yet. I'm on a stock rooted Razr Maxx by the way.

Some questions:

1. Are these laggier or smoother than stock (motoblur in my case)?
2. Have you noticed any increased or decreased battery useage with a custom launcher? If so then how much? (Not a big issue on my Maxx but I still like to be efficient :P)

Cheers.

I use Nova with CM10.1 (4.2.1) and I disable all transition effects etc to make it snappier. It is far snappier than motoblur, or HTC sense and touchwiz for that matter!

Can't see it having much effect on battery life, though.

Nova here on my Note 2
Much faster than stock TouchWiz. I've not noticed any difference to battery use but if any I would expect it to use less as there is less crap running.

3rd party launchers will always be used as stock ones are soo basic and naff :D

Though I do like the scroll effect on the stock TW launcher.

I use Nova Prime on my GS3.

Nova Prime on my S3.

I use it over Apex because it gives the option of having app drawer folders. Haven't used Apex in a while but I imagine most of the other features are the same.

Nova Prime on my CM10.1 S3. It has a good choice of toys to play with and I like that I can backup my settings easily should I decide to try another ROM. Go was the first launcher I tried when I first rooted TouchWiz on my S3. It felt very bloated to me.

Apex here. There are some customization options I prefer on Apex compared to Nova, but the rest of the features are pretty much the same.

As for my phone stuck on Gingerbread, I'm using ADW. Did use to use Go but that got bloated like mad.

As for battery consumption, there's no difference compared to stock. Performance is pretty much fine as well depending on the launcher (both Nova and Apex should be very smooth on your Maxx).

I just use stock Android now. I used to use Nova. I found it far smoother than Apex. Things might have changed though.

Nove Prime, love the settings, grid size, gesutures. Really lets you customize your phone and well worth the price. I think most of these features can be found in Apex too but Since Nova has more customers it has better chance of getting more updates and stay alive.
