I'll be in the US towards the end of next year & would like to save some money on my next iPhone.

Will an iPhone bought in the US work over here and is the warranty etc. valid?

The 4G radios will be incompatible, 3G will be fine. Not sure about the warranty but I bought an iPad 2 in Canada and got it replaced back here in the UK when the noise cancelling microphone died without any issues.

Apple warranties for anything that contain cellular equipment is limited to the country of purchase only. All other Apple product warranties offer worldwide coverage.

iphone warranties are country specific, I wouldn't get one in the US, its not worth it as it isnt that much cheaper anyway when you consider state sales tax

It's not just the iPhone, any cellular enabled device has the same warranty policy including both the iPad and iPad mini cellular versions.

are you sure, ive had a cellular ipad 2 replaced by Apple US when it was bought in UK (it broke whilst I was there)

It's stated clearly in the warranty section online, I don't know how rigorously they enforce it though.

Thanks all, think I'll avoid getting an iPhone then. I don't want to risk it breaking & ending up with a £400-500 brick. I might go for something with Android on it next time round anyway after playing with a Galaxy S3 :)

I am tempted by an iPad while I'm there though. Am I right in saying if I get the Wifi version then warranty will be OK over here?
