Hello,

Just ordered some thermal paste to replace the default stuff on the Antec 920, iirc the 920 gets twisted into position... is there a method of applying the paste that best suits the twist style cooler?

Thanks

:-)

Did you buy suitable alcohol spray to remove the stuff that's already on there? If not, remove it first.

All you have to do is put in the middle a pea sized amount of thermal comound and then press the heatsink onto it. It will take care of the rest itself (don't bother with the plastic card smear method).

I've had my 920 on and off more times than I can remember, I use that two part cleaner posted above, then apply the tired and trusted Artic Silver5, but I am almost run out and looking to maybe get Chillfactor3 as it always seems to pop up as an outstanding paste.

Sorry to re-live an old thread!

I was wondering the same thing.
I have the Antec920 cooler installed, but feel that I could get better temps - I'm hitting 92c (under 12hrs of P95) on my i7 3770k @ 4.5ghz OC'ed

I got some old Arctic MX-2 laying around, and was thinking of removing the antec, re-applying the paste, and putting the antec back on (stock paste still there)

Is that at all recommended?
I simply want to put paste, as I feel the spread isn't good:

Clean both surfaces and apply the new paste.

Don't leave the old stuff on.

Right I'm back....paste on the antec was almost gone, disintegrated.
My chip was also scratched (the IHS) due to the pad of the antec 920 being not smooth.

I have just run IBT with 10 Gflops, before and after -> temp difference is around 5-10c.
That's stock antefc crappy paste, which Antec are going to hear about this vs Arctic MX2 (that I've had for over 2 years)
