Things that used to exist and now don't...

Puffa Puffa Rice - best cereal ever
Peak Cola (came in a plastic can)
Spangles
Frys five centres - I loved these

Also there was this instant powdered sachet type hot drink I used to get. It was chocolate, coffee and mint flavour. Can't for the life of me remember what it was called, I think this would have been the early 90s. Anyway, it was so nice.

Cars just left abandoned in housing estates that you could play in
TVs without remotes
F1..... racing wheel to wheel through corner after corner, refuelling, the very real risk of a spectacular crash and most drivers not being scared of a wee bit of rain :p

My mate put one of these on his eyeball and couldn't open his eye for around half hour and when he could it was pure red and wouldn't stop watering, was the funniest thing ever

Yes, these werent so much 'turbo' if on, but made your PC run like a snail if off.

As far as I know, they were originally a means of easily underclocking a CPU in order to run older software that was designed for a much older CPU and relied on it for timing. It's just that calling the normal speed 'turbo' was better advertising than calling the underclocked speed...something.

Raleigh Chopper bike, I had one as a kid and it was my first bike after learning to ride a bike. As everyone knows it was most known for it's handling and safety issues but even still I bloody loved it :)

Ah, I had one of those too. I recall regaining consciousness in the bottom of a skip at the side of the road (fortunately empty). I'd been watching Hawaii 5-O and decided that it was a good idea to stand on the seat like I was surfing down the road. I might have made it for a short distance, but I can't remember anything between starting to try it and coming to in the skip :)

Rediffusion rented TVs and changing the TV channel with a clicky dial on a box on the windowsill (i.e. not on the TV).

You could play some games with "turbo" off to makle them easier. :D

Indeed! Used to play "Heart of China" over and over again, and there was one point where it was the old shuffle game... find the pea after it's been shuffled around under some shells.

Quick hit of the turbo button and that part became reaaaaal easy. :D

Free toys in cereal boxes came straight to mind when reading the title.

Christmas feeling like Christmas.
Kids playing out in the street.
Leaving bin bags in a pile on the pavement (before wheelie bins).
Smoking areas in pubs/cafes.
Petrol/beer not being a rip off (can be applied to a lot of things I suppose).
Manual choke levers on cars.
Having to lock car doors individually by pushing the door handle in / opening with a key (before central remote locking).
Having to ring people on land lines and hoping you'd just caught them before they went out.
8 ace.
Public incinerators (before recycling).
Having to go to shops to buy things (before Amazon etc.)
Neighbourhood Watch stickers in porch windows (do they still exist?)
Writing letters and sending them in the post (before email).
Decent summers.
Conservatory fad (early 90s this wasn't it?)
Audio cassettes / VHS.
Having to look things up in a proper book/dictionary as opposed to Googling it.

I could probably go on all night with these!

TAB Clear, oh the novelty.

Was the only cola I was allowed to drink when I was young as the E numbers in the normal stuff made me crazy! I was sad when it disappeared :(

Anyone remember Do It All (the shop).
Was rubbish but useful at desperate moments.

Worked there part time during my A levels. Hateful place. I sent customers to Wickes quite often, especially if they were looking for straight wood :). Then became Focus Do it All, then just Focus, then died as it deserved to.

The Burger King Mushroom Double Swiss.

A sad loss to the UK. Still available in Asia though. So nice I even imported two of them back home a few weeks ago after my holiday. Mmmmmmm microwaved mushroom double swiss :)

The things that hang down from the back of a car to stop people getting car sick.

Mind = blown!! I remember being told as a kid, and never questioning till this very day, that they were lightning conductors! Lol. Seemed legit - stop your car being destroyed if struck by lightning. If only my parents knew what they were actually for - I might have been spared hours of being sat between my pansy brother and sister continuously puking whenever we went on holiday.

BT Phonecards where you could dial a number, enter a code and it would connect you to a specific pre-programmed number. Basically given to kids so they could phone home from a phonebox even if they had no money. No idea if they are still around but I haven't seen one in years.

Not those, but that reminds me of those old green BT phone cards. Me and some mates used to prize open the bins for used ones in phone boxes cos you could get them to work again by painting clear nail varnish over the tracks that were scratched into them. Tru story.
