I'm a bit surprised that various countries in Europe are pushing for a United Europe, I would have thought they would rather keep there own personal identity/culture etc. I can understand maybe more with Germany considering their past, they are probably still in some kind of transitional state after the fall of the Berlin wall and trying to escape from their history.

But, reading an article today that the UK will most likely be weakened economically if it doesn't submit fully to EU membership, well that is just ridiculous considering what we have done for the world, especially over the last 100 years or so. It's probably bluff but sounds like bullying to me.

With all the aid being handed out to developing countries(and quite right) and all the things going on in the world, yet we are one of the most progressive democracies in the world and are being threatened to be punished if we don't join the 'European project'.

What's the deal, pass power to a central Government to escape from individualism or what?

I'm a euro skeptic, and I'm not sure what you are arguing.

I am saying that countires will eventually lose more and more powers as the 'EU project' progresses. These include Judicial, Monetary, Military, Trading and Governmental powers. Essentially EU states would only have state level powers and become states in a Federal Republic like the USA.

It sounds like a good idea to me. With countries like the USA, China, India and Brazil being so big we need to group up with European countries to compete with the other superpowers.

The future will be indo china, the Americas and their subjugates if Europe doesn't have a united front.

That's what pro-EU lobbyists would have you believe.

Has Wales lost any of it's charm and uniqueness by being a part of the UK? What makes you think countries wouldn't maintain their own identity/culture by having a more united Europe?

It is kind of odd that out of all places, people in United Kingdom - the union of four constituent countries, further three associated Crown dependencies and fourteen overseas territories - have difficulty understanding why countries and territories would want to keep together?

No, it hasn't. Mainly because Wales has never had any charm or uniqueness. But I see your point.

That's a fair point, good for peace, trade and the economy. Some people are wondering how far it will go though. In other words, one Government, one legal system, one army, one currency, one language...
