New Car Time - 15k - Scirocco?

avoid this if it is the turbo and supercharged version. many problems.
Many problems according to the internet, but probably lots more that are fine and the newer examples at the £15k end of the market will be better. Granted it may be more prone to issues than other cars, but as with all modern complicated cars a decent warranty (such as the VW approved one) should see you right.

I tried a Scirocco 2ltr turbo when we owned an E46 330i. Excluding the economy, couldn't think of a single thing I preferred on the Scirocco to the 330i. Being fair, a 330i is a more expensive car to buy from new, but that IS where my money went.

Go try driving both side by side.

No many problems due to actual real life ownership experiences.

I owned a seat ibiza cupra 1.4 tsi. It was hell.

Well so far mine hasn't been. I meant 'many problems according to the internet' in terms of lots of people saying how bad they are online, but they'll be a small percentage of all the cars (although probably a higher percentage than most cars). You won't get people waxing lyrical starting threads on online forums to say "I've done 20,000 miles and my car hasn't broken!" will you? If it was such a bad engine I doubt VAG would be still using it.

Soooo I went to The Car People today to have a look at a 2.0 GT TDI 140 Golf they had in. Was marked up at a decent price. All went well until they offered me £2,800 for my car. I would have drove that Golf away there and then too. Ticked all the boxes and was about 4k cheaper than the equivalent Scirocco. I didn't expect them to offer me £6k for mine but they took the pee with that offer and they weren't willing to budge. Serves me right for going!!!

Doesn't sound a million miles off for trade in. What did you expect to get out of it? Remember its about cost to change - if the dealer didn't have much margin in that car they'll make it back on the trade in

I was looking at about 4. Similar spec age and quality cars are going for 5-5.5k so I thought 2.8 was a bit unfair.

so sell privately.

it will mean a longer wait yes but ultimately you will get more for it and can walk into a dealership in a commanding role of having enough to buy a car outright whilst also being in a position to haggle.

Have a search in my posts for all my 1.4 tsi related fun.

That was exactly my thoughts, Car Craft is just down the road so am gonna bob in there Saturday and see what they offer me out of curiosity. Maybe I'm expecting too much.

Don't. Carcraft aren't the sort of people you want to have any dealings with when buying or selling a car.

Please, save your time. Do not go to this place. You have at least an understanding of what you're after so this excludes you from going to such a terrible place.

Ah OK, cant help you then!

Surely there are plenty of proper car dealers in leeds so you dont need to resort to carcraft? Styner VW Leeds have several Golf GT 2.0 140s in stock for ~16k
