Anyone know any info or if we should keep our eyes open for anything special? I have not been keeping up on the topic at all since the 23" sammy 700D was out though i am aware of 144hz etc.

I did a quick google but only found threads where PCM2 was talking about 144hz and people said we should keep an eye out from samsung.

Me 2007WFP is literally murdering my eyes.I cannot get smooth mouse movement and its messing with my eyes focus ability as i cannot center on anything in the game world due to all the blur and lamposts wobbling/tearing when i strafe and mouse.Im pretty certain its 60HZ blur but im not willing to give up 2007WFP image quality for a TN samsung either.

Are strobing 120hz panels going to make an appearance? Or even 60HZ strobe zero motion blur would suffice as long as it is IPS.

No information yet I'm afraid, but only a few days to go. Given that Samsung have effectively withdrawn the SA750, SA700 and SA950 series from the market in most places I really hope that they have a suitable replacement. The only teaser from Samsung in the way of monitors so far has been some models in the SC750 and SC770 series. They are MVA and certainly not 120Hz!

I wouldn't hold out hope for anything too unconventional (strobing backlights and the like). Sometimes manufacturers aren't ready to unveil their full 2013 line-up at CES as it is so early in the year so who knows what we'll see by the end of the year!

Also interested in any news about this. But suspect that 120hz higher res screens (i.e. 2560x1440 and above) won't arrive thru official channels this year

Which only leaves 'grey' imports from S. Korea, which I'm a bit wary of (but would still resort to if the large manufacturers continue to stall on providing them; and I'm pretty sure they could churn them out in droves tomorrow if they put their minds to it)...

I'd like to be proven wrong tho, with a glut of 120hz monitors appearing on the market pushing prices down.

Was watching a video from ces and asus were displaying some monitors (paul from newegg asking about it), one of which is a 144hz monitor that looks quite nice, could be on the right lines of what your after.

Well not for me anyways at number one 144fps is too hard to maintain when you are a single GPU anti stutter purist and two is the horrid 27" size for only 1080p.

I would imagine you can actually see the huge square pixels up close....horrible

It is people imagining with no actual eyes-on experience that adds to a sea of confusion on this topic. If you are sitting a sensible distance from a 27" 1920 x 1080 monitor you wouldn't see the pixels. To see them clearly and noticeably you'd have to be about 30cm or so from the screen which is too close really. Even then they aren't very large at all - they are very small. There is a significant difference in the pixel pitch on a 1920 x 1080 and 2560 x 1440 model and the latter can potentially give a much sharper image. But that doesn't mean 1920 x 1080 on a 27" monitor is something to be allergic to, especially when everything looks only marginally larger than on the much-loved 24" 1920 x 1080 screen.

And back on topic - nothing new at CES on this front I'm afraid. The ASUS VG248QE has been known about for some months now so that was no surprise. Samsung displayed only 2 new monitor series which are MVA panel monitors at 60Hz. That doesn't mean there won't be some 120Hz+ monitors from them later this year. There have been instances in the past when they don't have the models ready in time for CES but release them later in the year.

I'm looking forward to a new 27" 120hz VDU.

I have an eye disease which results in progressively degrading vision. I'm on the border of contact lens correction, and will require a double corneal transplant.

So the 1920 x 1080 on a bigger monitor is a huge benefit to me, visually.

was not aware of the Samsung 120hertz panels, but if there withdrawn we continue to wait and see.

I dont think anyone could go wrong with one of those Korean 27inch IPS panels or the DGM ones for now, and perhaps if they do ever release decent 120hertz high end panels one can change, just feels like ive been waiting for years for one !
