Was just about to head to bed after playing a bit of cod when I heard an almighty bang!!!

Pooped myself and then realised the computer was off.
Tried switching it on, nothing.

Tried testing the PSU by bridging the connections and only have my pump connected to it. Nothing.

So it's safe to say my PSU went pop!!

So apart from the hassle of a RMA etc, what's the likely hood it took anything else out? I don't have a second PSU to test.

I just hope it simply was the PSU as I don't want to have to wait on a replacement to find I then have to RMA another item.

Do OCUK deal with the RMA? It's less than a year old.

Firstly please remove the first word from the second line of the OP.

You won't know until you have a new PSU but the AX750 will have good protection so hopefully everything else is OK.

Yes.

Apologies - wasn't aware that word was naughty. :)

I'll be on the phone to OC tomorrow morning if they are open then.

Also need to order a replacement in the mean time.

Any other decent brands? Fully modular and 750+ please.

the funny thing is (ok not so funny) the ax750 is a x-750, so you would be buying one with the same insides that just went pop

i always thought seasonic was the best but heard so many fails from them lately
....kinda worrying

is the seasonic rma nicer? im not sure

It sounds like you have just been incredibly unlucky. Seasonic PSU's are the best there are, and the high end Corsair PSU's like the one you just had die on you have Seasonic internals as Mei stated above.

What are the other components in your system?

Its not very often with modern PSU's that they take anything else with them now a days.
As they have good protection on them so that they don't take anything else with them.

Seasonic are the best PSU's that you can get though, Just been unlucky on this occasion.

Ah OK, yes it was you who did that awesome little water-cooled prodigy build wasn't it :)

Well that definitely wouldn't have overloaded the PSU so theres that possibility out of the window.

Does anyone know if the corsair sleeved cables fit the seasonic?

The PCI-E and motherboard power cables would fit.

The peripheral cables would fit if you plugged the connectors into the PSU the other way up, but then the clips may get in the way.

The CPU cable will not fit.

I am going off of HD pictures of the back of both PSU's, and looking at the pin layouts. It is clear to see that they are the same for the most part, but on the Seasonic the peripheral connectors are positioned the other way up so that the clip goes on the opposite side, and the Seasonic has an 8 pin and 4 pin CPU power connector as opposed to just the 8 pin one, and the pin layout is different for the 8 pin connection.

So worst case scenario, the PCI-E and motherboard power cables will fit fine, the peripheral cables will fit the other way up but you may need to snap/cut the clips off, and you will have to use the CPU power cable provided with the seasonic or braid it yourself.

If you plan on getting an X-750, as much as it may feel like a stupid thing to do after having one fail on you, you may as well just use the replacement AX-750. It is essentially the same PSU, your braided cables will fit, and you wont have the hassle of buying/selling.

You have just been incredibly unlucky with the old one it would seem. There may have been some kind of manufacturing defect on the inside.

My problem is I can't wait for a replacement to be sent out so I'm looking to order something to use until all that's sorted out.
