Hi guys, fiddling around with my overclock and after trying a small bclk bump to 102, which crashed cat control centre I quickly reverted it. Then tried playing with my LLC settings to lower my 4.7ghz volts which BSOD during IBT. Upped volts and boot into this dreaded screen

Loading my old profile and loading optimised defaults has no effect, so what is my best course of action here? Dead SSD or corrupt windows 8? I may have to download a win 8 ISO to attempt a repair if it recognises the partition.

Are you sure that when you where changing defaults and booting and reloading profiles ect that your bios has changed the boot device to a hdd or ssd with out a os on ? are you selected on the correct drive ?

Good idea, it's been nearly 3 years now! In other news, I now seem to be 4.7GHz stable with 1.65V PLL and 1.3V vcore with reasonable temps. I think it needed 1.32V at 1.8V PLL so that's an improvement.

All seems well. I have to say I didn't expect to wake up and find everything hunky dory. I've backed up an image to my external drive just in case! Windows 8 seems quite fragile in terms of overclocking. BSODs break it quite easily.

Crucial M4 by any chance?

Mine did something very similar last week while playing with my overclock. Seems theres a firmware fix out to stop it happening.

Vertex 2e actually. Hasn't given me any problems yet. I've dropped my RAM overclock to see if that's the issue though.

Are you using a Marvell HDD controller by any chance?

I use PC at customer's studio that has a Vertex SSD on a marvel controller that will regularly disappear and show that screen, I set the HDD wait to 5 seconds in the bios the other day and that seems to have helped, I'm not sure it's fixed it though.

The SSD is fine, the marvell SATA 3 controller is just flakey. It's bolted on to X58 board so I suppose it's to be expected.

God no! Both the SSDs are in the SATA3 ports, but I had heard they were quite unreliable and slow anyway.
