Holy cackpants!! Power supply just went bang!!! AX750

Why not get a PSU that will be enough to keep you going untill the replacement arrives and is cheap enough for you to keep as a spare for the future for testing for PSU problems and also to use to build up outside your case to save dismantling the PSU already fitted to a case.
Taking a PSU out of a case that's "cable tidied" can be a pain.

"An example below depending on your power requirements"

YOUR BASKET
1 x Corsair Builder Series CX 500W V2 '80 Plus Bronze' Power Supply (CP-9020047-UK) £49.99
Total : £60.49 (includes shipping : £8.75).

The cables for the old AX (green) will not work with the new AX (red) as the PSU's are made by different manufacturers. The green AX psu's are seasonic, whereas the red AX's are flextronic if I remember right.

Though that may only apply to the 'i' series.. need to doublecheck that..

Ah - righto. Cheers. I'll take them out the case then and slap them on the MM later on today/tonight.

Edit - just noticed the bottom comment. Will need to do some investigating.

While you are drunk on the thrill of getting an AX760i as a minor upgrade to your old AX750 for free, use the time to braid your own cables and it won't seem as tedious :D

Personally I would just use an older machine or a laptop for a few days. Assuming that the OP has one of course.

Corsair are creating some confusion here. There are two different AX series now. The AX760 and 860 have replaced the older 750 and 850 models (all made by Seasonic). The AX 650 (seasonic) and 1200 (flextronics) have been discontinued.

There are now a AX760i/AX860i/AX1200i as well and these are all built by flextronics.

I presume that as the OP had a AX750 he will get a AX760 as a replacement which is a Seasonic unit.

That's the thing, if the TTL explanation is right, then the Red AX psu's, even though they are made by seasonic, are the same connection type as the ones made by flextronics, and are therefore different to the older ones (though I am led to believe that its only the 24 pin that is different.

Picked up a 600w xigmatek unit for £45. Will do as a temp and a spare.

Will test when home. Hopefully everything else is ok!

So. Do the cables fit the newer AX760? Still confused.

Glad to report everything is alive!! Well apart from the power supply. :D

Happy days.

No way could I have waited until the new one arrived to see if anything else had blown - it would have driven me mad!!

I was the same when my Enermax blew a few years back, had a spare PC and ripped the PSU out and luckily my PC booted fine :o
