Hey guys, im a noob when it comes to this so bear with me. I now have a DLNA capable tv and have been using my girfriends laptop to stream videos via Windows Media Player since Windows 7 has the "Play To" option. However I have a few large >6GB mkv files which WMP wont play, I usually use VLC media player since it plays everything, but I dont seem to be able to stream from VLC to the TV.

First off, is it even possible to play large mkvs via DLNA? If so how would I go about doing it, are there any recommended programmes?

Thanks for any help :)

I play large MKV via DLNA all the time.. Firstly though, you need a wired connection, not a wireless one.
I used to use the Samsung all share software but using Mezzmo now and it works flawlessly.

Which TV do you have?

Plex is a decent bit of software. I use it all them time to my LG and you can remotely access your files over the interent provided the PC is on.

Its a Panasonic TX47LE5B. It plays mkv when using a usb drive, but I cant use this method with the larger files as they wont copy over due to the size limitations of the format. I have a wired homeplug network, but my speeds are pretty terrible at around 3.5Mbps so perhaps thats the issue?

Ill give Plex and Mezzmo a try.
